so it's basically a 3yr/$17.7 million contract? on the high side for lowry...not a bargain, but not terribly long. probably about a 20% to 25% premium to what he is worth. with so much cap space still out there i don't think it's an insane premium. also, it's not like you can just let every quality young player with upside walk out the door when they are in what could be their prime years. pay the man and welcome back to the rockets kyle! i am curious what scola is going to get offered.
Well, I'm asian, and I don't think Jeremy Lin will be a good NBA player. I can just see him in the NBADL for a while. And do you think that Jeremy Lin can go night in and night out doing what Lowry does? I don't think so. Sorry, my Asian brother, you are not welcome on this team.
That would be fine by me, tell him honestly.....you'd rather have scola than Jamison? This guy can stretch the floor kinda like Dirk does for the Mavs and guard multiple positions as well. Gosh i hope this happens.
Even though sessions get paid around 4mil per year. Are you sure you wouldn't just spend a little more to keep Lowry?
The game is changing folks...backups at certain spots are about to be worth a ton. 6 mil is chump change for a backup of his caliber. Cavs did this to get rid of Mo. And also, this doesn't happen if LeBron is still there.
Where's the option for "Look for a potential cheaper and/or better replacement ala Orlando with Reddick/Richardson?"
yeah the more i think about it this is a fair deal. not too big of a premium and maybe even a bargain if kyle can learn to shoot the threes better.
No, $6 million is a lot to spend on a 24mpg player with the CBA expiring and the Lux Taxline looming. I mean they said they would match, so got to put their money where their mouth is, but I would not do it. DD
Absolutely match, especially since the 4th year is a club option. What about all you screaming for sessions and his 4mill per last year. Lowry>sessions. Not that last year has anything to do with matching.
Les told Morey at the end of the season, we will match. This has resulted in Morey sitting and not going ahead and signing Scola & Lowry up right away. Now Morey must overpay=== 6 mil /yr for a 4mil /yr back up. i dread to think about Scola!!!!!!!!!
The rockets would be considerably WORSE next season without him as they have no one else to play PG. That contract is reasonable for an impact player. I doubt YAO gets a max next year. There will be money to spread around. easy decision.
Oof...that's a lot. RFA's always get overpaid because that what it takes to pry them from their old team. It's not too bad, though. Fourth year is team option which really makes this a 3yr/18mil deal. I'd match.
Of course Morey will match it. First off it's only three years, with a team option. It's the five and six year contracts that are cap killers. And Morey isn't going to let an asset just walk. He'll match and trade Lowry later rather than just letting him walk.
