Well actually the real issue is the fact that the Rockets are a better team with both of these guys on the roster because of what I mentioned earlier: matchups. Every time we play Dallas, Utah, Portland (with A. Miller) to name a few, Aaron Brooks will get posted up and the Rockets won't have the personnel at the point guard position to counter this move. Don't get me wrong, i think Aaron is a hell of a player and that kid has worked hard to get where he's at and I completely respect him for it; but it still doesn't change the fact that there are some things you can't teach. All I'm saying is that for some reason you're making this a Brooks vs. Lowry debate and what I'm saying is that this Rockets team needs both of those guys (regardless of thier similar age) to have the ability to counter whatever point guard matchup problem might come thier way. So DM: Match it!
Um, one of Battier/Ariza won't be starting. LOL, wtf? Brooks at $10-12 mil would be a far, far, far worse deal than Lowry at $6. Are you really trying to argue against giving Kyle Lowry a mid-level deal because it could prevent you from paying Aaron Brooks near max dollars? Are you kidding? Lowry had been targeted by Morey for two years and it took the ideal trade situation to finally bring him in.
The only reason I can conceive of to not match: if Alexander won't really be willing to match a big offer to Scola as a result. He says he's willing to spend, but we'll see what happens when Scola signs his offer sheet. If he can't really do both, I would rather he balk on matching Lowry than balk on matching Scola. I don't understand the Cav hate. They aren't trying to screw over the Rockets, they're just trying to fill out their roster.
did you watch Temple play when he was here? He played real well in the summer league. when we were up against GSW and James White was checking Curry. He was lighting us up til Temple switched over to guard him. He played well enough to make the training camp squad and played well in the preseason too. he made it tough on the team when it came down to deciding who to keep cuz he could play. he can step in easily cuz he knows the system now and he can play defense and attack the basket. not to mention he is 6'6" so he is a match-up problem. He can be had for cheap so we'll have even more money for a backup for Yao.
Temple is Spurs property now fellas so that's out the window. If AB asks for an extension in the 8-10 mil range than we need to trade him why we still can.
it would be a different story if there were a lot of pg around. cle sees the talent in lowry...plus lowry can play the 2 guard that brings different looks to the rox. match.
Lowry NEVER played to 2 guard here. AB always played the 2 when they were on the floor at the same time.
completely off topic but does anyone on here play Nba2k10 for the ps3? anyways we need Lowry for the sake of our 2nd unit.
And why aren't the Rockets announcing their intent to match the offer? How much time does it take to do that? The silence is very interesting.
36 pages of speculation and worry. We should have just listened to Morey during YoYo's interview when he said Lowry and Scola would be back.
The cavs really didn't want Lowry o they were being cheap. Wes Matthews got the full mle and with the cavs having cap room, they could've had the contracts run backwards on a mle for 5 yrs. Its good to have lowry back and if a team comes calling and will give him a chance to start, they can still trade him if so be it.
