You knew Lowry and Scola would get stupid offers sooner or later. Look at all the money being thrown around this offseason to mediocre/scrub players (Darko). Tough decision for Morey, especially considering Scola will get offered alot more than that soon...
Lowry will start here as soon as Morey "Landy's" Brooks with Shane/Jeffries. I'm sure Morey won't sign Lowry knowing Lowry is itching to start and will no be happy about it without already having a plan to move AB.
Why do people say this? When Morey's history is that he trades backup players to acquire starters? I think he matches Kyle and trades him next offseason. DD
6 mil is a lot for a back up, but we need him. Can't rely on AB to make all the decisions down the stretch of the game. Re-sign him.
Of all the Morey player movements, your statement is only true in one instance. Kevin Martin. Artest was a low risk rental that was being shopped around to every other NBA team. Regarding starters, that's it except for FA signings and draft picks.
That was an example of Morey's ability to sell high. Morey builds up value and right before you're about to make the big bucks he trades you. Landry and AB are prime examples of that. AB just blew up in value before he hit RFA. If Morey commits to that much salary I just find it hard to find trade value for Kyle in the future while he's playing backup PG. I'm not saying I prefer Lowry over AB but if AB can be packaged for a star of semi star (Granger type) I'd do it.
I can see few things good out of not matching and many things bad. Still would like some height at that position, though.
I am talking about the players we traded to acquire him. The only starter I can recall Morey trading is Rafer, and he was clearing the deck for Brooks..... Even Tmac when traded was no longer a starter. I don't know, I guess we shall see, but I think Brooks is by far the better player.....so if we lose Lowry, I think he is more easily replaced. DD
That strategy NEVER ends in championship....if you are always flipping your best players, you are fooling the fans and not really trying. DD
Landry was our best player IMO before the deadline last year and he was traded for depth at another position. why wouldn't Morey do the same by trading AB for talent at another spot?
A undersized 6'0 PG/SG can be replaced any day with any other scorer, but a guy like Lowry, who can penetrate and dish , and has the ability to finish near the rim, is even harder to replace for some teams. Doesn't mean I want to lose neither, but I would rather we trade Brooks to get a more marqueee guy than lose a guy like Lowry.
I hate the Cavaliers ****ty front office doesn't no how to judge talent and dish out money accordingly... Very steep price. Screw it. Cavs can have fun pissing their money away, Morey isn't go to go all out on a bidding war when the price is already over the retail value of the product.
You saw the stats. Landry WAS the 4th quarter scorer and closer until he got traded. How quickly we forget...oh, I'm sorry I forgot who I was talking to.
I can sum it up with a question. Does letting Kyle walk give Morey more options or less options. The answer to that question will tell us whether the Rockets match.
Landry certainly was a 4th quarter scoring weapon, no argument, but he had serious holes in his game and Scola was a better overall player. Either way, no need to argue, we aren't going to agree. DD
Where's the question(?) and yes I do agree. This signing will say a lot about what Morey is planning for the future of this ball club.
I think Morey will match Lowry, and look to sell Brooks high. Either this offseason if someone is available, or at the deadline.
