Owned? Because Bosh wanted to be Wade's sidekick in Miami? Because Morey hasn't thrown big money to some league veteran? Because Morey has patiently waited for teams to make the first move on our free agents?

Jay, I actually think Morey will match ASAP to show that he is serious about keeping Lowry and Scola.

Lowry is Morey's baby, the prototypical efficient player that Morey loves. No way he lets Lowry go without EVENTUALLY getting some valuable asset in return.

I agree. I have had this feeling for some time now that Morey would trade Brooks this summer or at the trade deadline because Brooks will get a large contract as a restricted free agent next year. Plus, if the Rockets intend to keep Martin they will need Lowry's defense to play beside him. A Brooks and Martin backcourt is just too poor defensively.

The Rockets would have to scramble to find a backup PG if they let him walk, but is Lowry THE best backup PG in the league? Darren Collison and perhaps George Hill are better in my mind. Nevertheless, I agree that it'd hurt to lose Lowry...I say for lack of other options, MATCH.

So is this one of those cases that "playing the wait game" comes back and bites you in the behind? I mean instead of sitting there waiting for some other teams to give Lowry an offer sheet, we could've offered him say $16m for 4 years. More than likely Lowry would accept it and everybody would be happy. Now even if we match the offer (kinda of overpay imo), Lowry still may not be happy (see "I'd rather be where I'm wanted" tweet).

Luis Scola is in the same situation. I hope we won't regret playing the wait game.

so let Brooks go next year? because he will command a bit more money and then the difference is what? Not worth it?

Collison played one season and Hill is IMO not better than Lowry at all (except his shooting ability, long range). I'd say Lowry is the best back-up PG in the NBA when we speak of his complete package ... every game!

Lowry is not even 1/5 of the player Rondo is.

now is the time to see if morey really wants lowery and scola. its been said they're willing to go over the salary cap, lets see! players that are already in your system and contibute and have chemistry, MATCH IT ASAP! cheaper guards just have you take a step backwards with the progress you've made. should be an east decision.

I suspect its a case of the Rockets being cash-strapped. I remember reading online that DM was looking to send a message to other teams that making an offer to any Rocket free agent would be an act of futility b/c they'd match and the team itself would just get bogged down with paperwork.

Hopefully the Rockets keep Lowry because he's critical to our offensive flow. To me, if I had a choice, I'd be more willing to part with Brooks in a trade than Lowry.

Well, I thought 4m is what teams were going to offer him, but 6 is a little more. Lowry is a good player and would be a better player with finishers and on another team. If the rockets match this, it tells me they're looking at trading brooks. I don't think they should match, its been good, but with a guy like cj watson out there and if they believe brooks is the guy, they could go for a earl watson, carlos arroyo, or one of those types. Lowry played well when he played with brooks because we didn't have enough explosion in the lineup. Now with martin in there, i see less of a need for brooks to slide over.

we cant keep this team of players who are outplaying their contract forever... with that being said yao's huge deal comes off the books next year along with battier and jeffries. with that we should b able to afford lowry, as long as extensions/offers to AB and Yao. our bench doenst play half as good without lowry, I say match!!!
