Tons of Lowry's fouls (and assists for that matter) happen in transition. One of the highest percentages in the NBA.

Any team with Yao starting is not going to be able to run and gun the same way.

Lowry will not be anywhere near as effective when forced to play in a half court offense, as will happen when Yao is on the floor. He can't shoot so defenders will cheat off him and close off his ability to score, draw fouls, or drive and dish.

Well i'll say this about ole Kyle. Either he's gonna start, or he's going to get starters pay.

If Lowry wanted a chance to start he should have talked to the Rockets before signing the sheet. Now he's pretty much guaranteed to be stuck on the Rockets bench.

After this offer, am glad LeBron left Cleveland, screw the Cavs....but Morey should match it, Lowry won some games with his toughness and hustle

By the way, Lowry can still add fouls to the opposing team when Yao is on the bench. He doesn't have to play WITH Yao to help the Rockets get into the penalty.

The Rockets sucked when Lowry & Ariza were out of the lineup.

    Just sayin..

Lowry is Les Alexander's favorite player. He will be back.

We are going to be running when Yao is in the game off turnovers and better defense. If you think for one moment that this Rox squad with Martin/Brooks/Lowry/Ariza is gonna walk it up and wait for Yao, you've got another thing coming. This is no longer the half court Van Gundy Rockets. This is the race it up and throw it around the horn and find the open man Rockets.

He is not worth so much money, but I would match, for the following reason:

If we lose him, it costs us in Team Talent, and gives us a third hole, along with backup C and backup SG. Sure, we hope that Hill and JT can fill those holes, but they haven't done so yet, and they are holes to this point.

We can replace him with a good chunk of our MLE, but we need to keep that available in case a nice FA becomes available at that price. If none does, we don't need to use our MLE.

This would become a bad contract, but we can tolerate it for three years, as long as we don't add too many more.

No, no i remember exactly. We struggled beause Lowry was out. Not because we didn't have backup because we did. Will Conroy. I believe the record was like 3-5 or somewhere like that.

I voted no, but I've changed my mind to a reluctant yes.

Also, wasn't Ariza or Battier out at the same time Kyle was out? If so, I'm sure that had something to do with the losing record. Also, it was late in the season. We were shorthanded and pooped.

    P.S. I love Kyle Lowry.

Fair point, we didn't have a suitable backup to Brooks. I'm not discounting Lowry and what he's done for the team. Him and Brooks on the court at the same time was fun to watch.

first off we have no backup and all the options are weak. Better get everybody signed should of already done this instead of chasing that loser Bosh.

    Its quite simple really.

You Match it cause he is an Asset. Say in 12 more months time he has improved again and we sign Brooks then you have either an awesome backup PG who IS worth 6M per year or you can then Trade him to another team who has an Asset they we covert (Remember in the league a lot of the time to get something you want you have to give up something THEY want).

You could still trade him at the Deadline aslong as he agree's. So you have to find a team where he is going to be the Starting PG which shouldnt be too hard, then hes most probably going to agree isnt he. Cleveland are going to be crap so hes obviously not too concerned with team positioning, unless we are making a major push up the WC rankings and hes happy stay and to play second fiddle for a greater prize.

End of the day hes a Asset and a great one at that. Its also adds Flexability to Morey as he can explore selling AB at a High whilst stil having an able Backup in Lowry.

    Morey matches IMO

I say match it. I love watching the lightning-thunder combo him and Brooks have going.

Totally agree. If anyone is willing to pay him now they will be more willing later. Never know what could happen and having both Brooks and Lowry gives the Rockets the best flexibility at PG in the league. One may get traded down the road, but I would rather pay the man than lose him for nothing.

Lowry will stay. Daryl Morey values him higher than just about anyone. His impact is real, his defense is a must have...

Lowry being out was part of why we didn't perform as well, but certainly not all of it, maybe not even the most important part. At the time Ariza was out as well, we had just traded away Landry and traded for Martin and were adjusting to having new players on the team and entirely different rotations. You can't oversimplify things and just say "herpa-derp we struggled because I LOVE YOU KYLE!!!"

Also, it was a small sample size and small sample sizes are unreliable in quantifying team talent.
