Person from Cavs forum Damn Houston, just hog all the talent. You already have Brooks, let Lowry walk! Ah,maybe we'll just send the OKC 2nd rounder or something.
When Morey matches, can the Cavs make Lowry another offer for more money? If so, my guess is they would add another $2 million.
Lowry is a unique player. He is one of a handful of players in the NBA that is truly relentless in attacking the basket. RELENTLESS is spelled LOWRY. He's worth every penny. I'm not saying he's the best PG on the league. I am saying he is unique. His relentlessness makes him unique. He is second to maybe only Wade at attacking the basket.
The Rockets need to match the offer for Lowry. Must keep! Too much of a spark off the bench to let go...huge piece of our team. And it'd send a message to the other teams that he might be bluffing about Scola.
We're not trading Brooks, and Lowry is not capable of being a starter. I'd explore SnT with the Cavs and if they don't offer enough in return, match and retain Lowry as the backup point guard behind Brooks. If they offer a decent package, send Lowry over in a sign and trade and see if we can work out a deal to bring Llull over early.
If the Cavs help us get Rudy and give us their 2011 #1 pick, Morey may consider letting Lowry go. But there is no way he lets Lowry walk for nothing.
In that case, thank the Cavs for getting half of our work done early. You guys have to realize Lowry is the best PG available and teams have money to spend.
I agree with Lowry having no fear, but a lot of times you would see him attack the basket and throw some circus shot that won't accomplish anything. I love him as a competitor, but I am a bigger fan of motion-offense than dribble-drive-kickout. I think Ramon Sessions can be had for a cheaper deal
As long as the offer sheet hasn't been signed yet, then Lowry can be signed-and-traded to any team, provided that the salaries match up (which won't be easy given Lowry's likely BYC status). However, if an offer sheet has been signed already (as has been reported), then no sign-and-trade deal can happen. As far as trades go, if the Rockets match the offer sheet, then for one full year, they cannot trade Lowry: (a) to the Cavs (at all); or (b) to any other team (besides the Cavs) without Kyle's consent.
Can you get a return on investment on Lowry if you match? You're still in the same position as last year
I'll be flabbergasted if Morey doesn't match the offer. While it's debateable that Lowry is worth that much, if the Rockets want to make noise, there is no better back-up PG out there than Kyle Lowry. Period. We'll have to overpay like this, and I think Les Alexander and Morey will be absolutely fine with that. Expect a match of the offer very soon.
Since we have 7 DAYS I think we should do a 1 hour special on ESPN... Let's call it the VERDICT.... Then Morey comes out on the show and say's "Yes we are going to resign Lowry and have made a trade with the Hornets for CP3"
