In case anyone is interested in Cleveland's version of Clutchfans opinion on this deal...

    RealCavsFans

They even mention this thread, I figured I'd do the same. I'd read through it but it's coming up to 2 am here so I'll check back on the drama tomorrow.

That wasn´t a true question, it was like, if he wants to go, there is no limitation, so a trade can be made 1 day after we sign him

well that one guy who wrote an article with something about Farmar getting paid more than Lowry ain't looking so good now. He got 12mil for 3 years if I'm correct.

What exactly do you think his ceiling is?

As far as I can see, he's never going to be a primary scoring option again like last year, and because of his size he will never lead the league in rebounds or be a great man defender and the great assist leaders either have the court vision or they don't - they don't suddenly develop it.

I'm not sure what else he can squeeze out of what God gave him. And that isn't an insult - he's certainly gotten more out of the hand he was given than just about anybody around.

I would try to work out a sign and trade with Cleveland if Lowry still hasn't signed the offer sheet, which I pray to God he hasn't.

    Cleveland gets Lowry
    Houston gets Josh Smith
    Atlanta gets Mo Williams

Rumors have it that Atlanta is interested in Williams.

    match the deal.

play lowry alot. get his trade value high.

then throw him in on any trade that land's you a star - even if you wait the full year. this team needs as much firepower as it can get right now.

keep brooks and lower his mileage...

remember lowry is the man and he's tough - but he can't hit the three. yao needs that. but we won't know if we're building around yao til he gives it a go this season.

That's also part of the deterrent with the RFA. Rockets can wait the full 7 days while Cavs will have their cap space tied up. 6 mil per year for Lowry isn't bad at all. He was probably the most important player on our team last year. His statistics were phenomenal. IMO Morey will match this, and he will wait the full 7 days, just to send a message out there.

Morey had said all along that he will match Lowry and Scola no matter what. By backing up his words on Lowry, teams will be more hesitant to throw big money at Scola. If he backs down now on Lowry, offers will be flooding in for Scola. With so much cap space still around, Scola might get an offer we simply can't match. Losing Lowry will be tough, but by losing Lowry we might lose Scola together.

its not that the Rockets would not sign Gortat to the MLE is that the Rockets had assessed a value to Gortat and did not want to overspend on that value--thats all-- I believe that value was around 4 million (if what Feigan told me last summer was true) we have no idea what sort of dollar value Morey has placed on Lowry OR Scola for that matter. It very well could be that after Morey and his staffs calculations that Lowry's deal is overpaying for him OR that Lowry's deal is actually less than still their projected value of him.

if the Rockets take a long time to match it could be that the number is slightly more than what they want to pay him and they are thinking about it...if they match quickly figure that his deal is less than what they project his value to be even if others think lowry is being overpaid

    Offensive rating:
    Lowry 113
    Brooks 108

    Defensive rating:
    Lowry 109
    Brooks 112

    Win shares per 48 minutes:
    Lowry 0.126
    Brooks 0.091

    Net on/off court:
    Lowry +5.8
    Brooks -0.2

Maybe Morey has his own stats to counter, but I don't see how one can resist not to match Cavs offer for Lowry.

Can't see anyway that we don't match.

This probably just means that we don't sign a backup center like Brad Miller.

And Brooks contract will be under the new CBA so it wont be nearly as high as some people think

I get it, and completely agree, we have no idea what that $$$$ amount is for Lowry.

I am sure they have a number, and I don't know if this is higher than that, lower, or right on it.

Still, it will be very interesting to see what happens.

I personally expect them to match it, that is what DM said the Rox would do.....

    Morey failed...

If the rockets gave Lowry an offer 5 days ago, he would sign it for 16 millons/4years.

No, I also said that Lowry could not be traded to Cleveland for a year PERIOD. With or without his consent. Not to the Cavs. Not allowed. Against the rules. Prohibited.

I'll let you read it a third time.

IMO, I think Morey values Lowry a bit more than you do. Not saying Morey thinks Lowry is irreplaceable, but IMO he doesn't think of him as just a "good" player.

And of course Morey will try to bring in another PG if Lowry is gone, unless he wants AB to be played to death. But the crop of PGs available right now is slim pickings. Don't know if Morey will wait around for better options and come into the upcoming season without a backup PG already in place.

No, he would have waited a little bit and Cavs would have still threw this offer at him.
