If we lose Lowry, we lose his toughness. With him gone, our team is going to be fairly soft.

Grats to Lowry; he's getting a nice raise either way.
The purchase of Llull from the Nuggets looks pretty shrewd about now... tho the schedule is a bit off. Maybe we can expedite his entry to the NBA a season early.

I'd say yes if he could actually shoot the three....

Lowry is clutch. Lowry is our best play-maker, and Lowry has more fire alone than the rest of the team put together combined. Yes, yes, and yes.

Another great thought....lots for the team to digest......lots....

It is not a simple match, IMO.

I know Anderson Varejao isn't very respected on here but he would make a nice backup Center compare to someone like Brad Miller. He's a solid rebounder and a good defender at 6'11. hustles and plays all out. a sign and trade for him I wouldn't mind.

If the offer sheet has already been signed, then if the Rockets match, Kyle Lowry cannot be traded for one full year without his consent (this includes the February deadline, the draft in June, and the beginning of free agency next year - until July 13, 2011). Moreover, he cannot be traded to Cleveland for a year PERIOD.

This is why I certainly hope that an offer sheet hasn't been signed. Remember, it was reported for a few days that RFA Anthony Morrow had signed an offer sheet with the Nets. Turns out, he hadn't; and the Nets and Warriors ended up doing a sign-and-trade that netted the Warriors a trade exception.

That said, I'm quickly starting to come around to the idea that Les (who admittedly LOVES Lowry) may be willing to match this offer.

3 years, $17.4M, with a team option in 2013-14 at ~$6.75M, is not completely horrendous.

To put this in perspective from a 2011 cap room standpoint: If the Rockets had signed Lowry outright to a deal starting at $4M flat, the Rockets would only have about $1.366M less in cap room. [EDIT: "more" in cap room.]

It's a bitter pill to swallow. But if Les does (and I'm starting to think he will), you'll have to give him credit.

I say match. Kyle's intangibles far outweigh his limitations (which can be improved = shooting).

I feel the total opposite about Kyle as to comparing when Moochie friggin Norris getting his 23 mill. Moochie should have never sniffed that money, I want to choke CD and Rudy T whenever I think of Moochie, Cato, and Mo Taylor. (and Matt I banged the owner's daughter Maloney)

    please name some potential replacements

I'm going to guess the Rockets are going to take the full 7 days before matching or not in order to explore all the possibilities of trading either AB or looking at other options for a backup. At the very least to leave the Cavs twisting in the wind a bit.

IIRC they took the full seven days with Landry, too.

i think cavs might roll out kyle + mo will in the backcourt.

and lowry is a starting-caliber PG. his play will deserve that contract.

good luck to kyle. he was great here. wish we had a starting spot for him though

I may be mistaken, but I think they immediatly matched Landry, like the very next day.

Too much money for him. Brooks who is the best player imo on the team will at least ask for 9mil which I believe he is worth. Sign lowry if we are getting only another big name soon threw sign and trade b/c we won't be able to keep both. If kyle could shoot ah decent 3 ball then I would maybe sign.

I agree he's not the reason why we took them to 7, but I do believe we couldn't have done it WITHOUT him.. does that make sense?

I think he's the most impactful backup PG in the league (or maybe I can't think of any body else).

Not praising him, but I do think he's great for this team.

But bro, he would give his consent, if we got a trade with Clev, because he wants the starting job, so that is not a problem, or is it???

holy *****!! 6 mil a year?! And all of yall were bit*hing at Ariza's contract? Man, this is going to be one expensive signing and Scola will get at least 9-10mil if Lowry gets 6. However, last year we were always better when Lowry played...we won more games. Gonna be a tough decision for DM AND Les.

My gut tells me that if we match and then we sign Scola...that Morey will be getting us a MAJOR player through trade before the deadline because Les agreed to pay as much as DM wanted since they were going "all in" this season...interesting
