that first round pick is interesting because if that twin towers experiment doesn't work in New Orleans it could open up a boogie cousins trade or maybe even a Paul George trade.

    wow
Just randomly checked twitter before going to bed , and saw this news. Now good luck sleeping. I can't believe this yet.
I guess Boston's owner was never going to pay the tax for IT.
Not sure how Boston is going to do next year though.

How is he too slow and stiff? He'd just be a 3&D SG like Danny Green. It helps their perimeter defense issues which is still important. This allows Lebron to be on Draymond Green more instead of always defending KD so he can do more roaming defensively and not have to expend as much energy on that side of the floor.

We don't know who is and isn't available, but that BK pick is still very valuable and can be used to upgrade the roster or kick off a rebuild. That pick could get them Marc Gasol if he became available for example or Boogie like somebody else mentioned, or it could get them Bagley or Doncic in the draft.

Ok. So who's the closer for Cleveland now? Is IT going to take all the clutch shots for Lebron?

    Nope.

Cavs aren't a player away (maybe unless they got a top 5 player in return and even then..)

Not DeMarcus Cousins, not Paul George, not Jimmy Butler,...

danny green is much quicker and more fluid of an athlete than Jae crowder.

Jaw crowder is solid at guarding big and physical fowards. but he struggles against quick guards.

And love, tristan, and frye are defensive liabilities.

The cavs lost the finals because they had no resistance at the rim and crowder doesn't make a big impact in that regard. And he def isn't going to cover for the terrible perimeter defense that's coming from IT / d rose.

Your Marc gasol suggestion is interesting.

No one is a player away but if they can get rid of Tristan Thompson with that first pick then they are a step closer - with boogie even

Also who starts now? IT with Derek rose in the back court?

IT and smith will start. Rose and IT would be a really short back court.

Nah, don't need to ship away a great first to get rid of Thompson.

IT will start & can start Smith, Crowder, Korver or Shumpert at the 2.

no he's not, and Crowder guards 2-4...he was the primary defender on Harden when we played them in Boston

Kyrie isn't that much better than IT defensively, and Crowder is a big bump defensively out on the perimeter. The Cavs needed a wing defender, and now they have one.

Tristan does not belong in the same category with the likes of Frye (who barely plays against GS to begin with) and Love when it comes to defense.

The Cavs lost because they couldn't defend anything at the rim or on the perimeter. They also had no one who could even attempt to slow down KD except for Lebron, and it's too much to ask him to guard KD while also controlling the offense for 40 or more minutes.

and harden averaged almost 34 ppg on Boston last year.

Kyrie is better defensively than IT. Crowder's wont make a big impact because they're not going to play him a lot of minutes at SG over JR, Korver, and Shump.

And Lebron is still going to play big minutes at SF and PF.

Crowder will be lucky to play more than 15+ minutes per game. That's not enough to make a big impact.

uh, I specifically mentioned he was the primary defender on Harden when we played IN BOSTON since Bradley didn't play, and Harden went 6-18 and 2-11 from 3 that night...

Harden averaged 30, 9, and 12 against SAS so what's your point?

Kyrie is barely better than IT defensively. IT is the worst, and Kyrie is 1 of the worst. They're both really sh*tty defensively. Crowder is better than all of those guys so why exactly wouldn't they do that? Shump is straight up trash, they've been dying to get rid of him. Korver is 36 and can't defend a thing. JR starts because they have no other option...

Crowder deserves more minutes than any of those guys...
