Your missing the point, every one new he could break down physically or go full jackass before they signed him. Welp, guess what happened? Shame on them when they knew about the product pre investment. He doesn't owe anything.
its always funny to me how these guys don't tell anybody they don't want to do their job until after they get millions of dollars...
It depends on your options. Do you have a job where you can tell your current boss to shove it if you aren't happy with them and go get another job paying millions once released? I'm fine with the player being able to tell the team to shove it since the team has the option to do that for the player. Why is it ok for the Cavs to be able to waive Bynum for whatever reason they like, and not pay him, but it's not ok for Bynum to use his leverage to get out if he isn't happy? I'm all for holding folks accountable but not for only holding the player accountable for being loyal/professional when the team doesn't have to be. The Cavs have a clause to waive Bynum and not pay him what they agreed to. If you don't have an issue with them doing that then why do you have an issue with what Bynum is doing? Hold them both to the same standards.
Just as funny as teams not telling players they aren't in their long term plans until after they get them signed and have the rights to trade them to places they never would have chosen to go. Didn't we sell Ariza on how important he would be to us and then trade him once it suited our needs? Didn't we tell Asik he would be our starting C?
You act as if his contract in non-guaranteed 100%. He got $6m for simply signing a piece of paper. If he went less than half a season healthy, he gets an additional guaranteed $18M+. No other team was really vying for his services for anything remotely near that kind of money. Yeah, poor Bynum. He only got $6m in guaranteed money and then had to not have a bad attitude and be able to actually play basketball for 3.5 months and he gets an automatic $18m more. But he cops an attitude and allegedly wants to be moved. Edit: one season after getting $17m while sitting out for wrecking his knee bowling while still rehabbing the knee. Why not be careless? He gets $17m guaranteed.
You think the GARM was delusional about Asik's value? Go to RealCavsfans and see the kind of return they expect for Bynum
lol dafuq? You really think anybody wants him? Everywhere he's gone he's been a useless cancer. Yahoo sports while r****ded sometimes, has his value as lower than a 2nd rounder. Forget about getting not getting anything, the team that gets him will get a cancer that can ruin everything with his lazy attitude.
He got a contract to play basketball, and he has been doing that. He isn't sitting out or refusing to play. The Cavs don't like his attitude, or whatever they are reporting. But assume he was playing out of his mind, the Cavs could still waive them just because they felt like it. He may not care about the money. He may think that the Cavs organization sucks after being there and doesn't want to be there anymore. Who knows. But again, why is it ok for the team to be able to get out of the deal whenever they want but not him? If the team has the right to waive him why is it a problem for him to take moves to get out of the situation? He gets $6M guaranteed. If they cut him today that's al he will get. And he did play games to earn that money.
Hopefully, but then we still have the clippers to worry about picking him up , ATL & nets should be behind us. Then we could wait for for asik to get healthy & get more later at feb. Deadline If morey can get a 2014 pick out of Bynum/asik he probably takes that's route ,
On the flip side, he could have given zero effort and not tried or have had his knees finally turn to dust before the season started and still got $6m. They don't get out whenever they want. This isn't the nfl. They had to pay him $6m and If he stayed healthy and wasn't a cancer he gets another guaranteed $18m. Even if he gets cut or stops giving effort on Jan 8th. They took a $6m gamble on a guy with attitude and bad knees. But he didn't have to. That's my point. He got it for signing the contract.
They pay for you to shut up and do your job. Sure they might sweet talk you but unless its in the contract who cares?
This is true. This is part of the risk teams take when signing players. However, on the flip side of that, a player like Parsons can get locked into a cheap deal and outperform it. They are getting out when they want in this case. Their max risk is $6M. They can waive him and not pay the rest. They can trade him if they chose, which is also "getting out". He got it for playing. If he refused to play then the team can try to get his contract voided. So this simply isn't true.
I think the player that gets shipped to some team/city he had no intentions of going to cares. My comments was in response to someone saying it's funny how players are happy go lucky until they sign their contract. The same goes for the teams. It's BS being thrown around on both sides. Having a great attitude, which is what the Cavs don't like about Bynum, isn't in the contract either. Neither is "shutting up". So who cares? He's doing his job....playing.
He said he wants to play in Boston. And those were similar claims with Dwight but he chose where he wanted to play and became happy. Asik for Bynum & 1st Then Bynum, Lin, Dmo for Rondo, Bass Rondo Harden Parsons Jones Dwight
This might work out perfectly for us. Everyone knows Morey wants a pick to go after Kevin Love. A swap of Bynum + a pick for Asik and Brewer. Then send Bynum and Jones with ours and Cavs pick to Minny for Love. They would then be able to waive Bynum and start their rebuild. If they insist on Parsons then we can sign and trade him for Kevin Martin...as a 6th man Martin would be amazing on this team.
