I am just wondering about the legalities of it? I wouldn't have the guts to do it...but man, I am SICK of the cats out roaming in the neighborhood and crapping in my yard. But the worst thing is the cat hair all over the pillows on our outdoor furniture, and as I said, everyone in my family is highly allergic to cats. It is BEYOND inconsiderate for people to let their cats roam around OUTSIDE of their property. Get a leash, or get an electronic collar...and keep your domesticated animals on your own land. DD
Not an equivalant scenario Meowgi, school is publich property. Now if you were to say " I will leave a bowl of tainted fruit loops on my back porch" that would be the same thing. Your attempt at lumping kids in with domesticated cats is simply ludicrous.....you are clearly not a true Texans fan !! GO VINCE YOUNG !!! DD
Dang it, WangDoodle... why do you keep reminding us of droxford? I miss the guy. Always had good sh*t to say... a cruel dude that trapped animals, but overall had good common sense. Maybe, Maybe NO... but... man, that's just MEAN. You really ARE DaDarkone. Anyway, russian, your cat meows loudly only to humans because it is asking for females who are in season, and he can't find them on his own. Be kind to the entire stray population and neuter him for his own good so he can have plenty of foreplay. KingCheetah, I agree with your first post. Let the little dude run around for a while, then scoop his *ss up... that's the ticket.
note to others: when reading Meowgi's posts, please remember that he his Buddhist and Buddhists believe that all life is equal. So the life and death of an ant is just as important as the life and death of a child. Most non-Buddhist people believe that a child's life is much more important than an ant's. DaDakota I'm not certain, but I believe that you are accountable for the death of a neighborhood animal if it appears that you left poisonous material out and it was eaten. However, in Houston you can borrow an animal trap from Animal Control and when you've caught the animal, they will come to your house, pick it up and, if the animal isn't claimed or adopted, they'll euthanize the animal all for free.
Why is that mean? If people do the responsible thing (and legal thing) and keep their animals in their own yard, there would be no problems. I fail to see how that would be mean, the bowl of food would go uneaten and no harm would come of it if people followed the law. What about the harm of my family getting sinus infections because the cats are leaving their hair all over our furniture? Cats are pets....the owners of those pets are responsible for their actions, letting a cat out to roam the neighborhood is irresponsible, and IMO, extremely rude. A ray of hope !! And Wangdoodle, thanks for pointing out Meowgi's religious ties it makes it easy to understand his lunacy....figures that it had to be a man made religion that gives him those simplistic views. DD
DD, I'm with you 110% I don't know if it's legal, but who would ever know. I've never actually done this, but......I've heard of you leave out antifreeze, they'll manage to walk back home before they die. Then, you don't even have to deal with throwing them away. Before I heard about that method, I had this POS cat that would sleep on our swing in the front yard at night. Over the course of 1 month, he/she all but ruined the swing. I tried to catch it napping, I was just going to shoot the damn thing, but it he was crafty. Then, I bought a brand new truck, and not more than damn week; all over the hood were freaking little cat scratches. The little b*stard dug its claws into the hood to climb up the front. My cousin told me about AF. I bought some anti freeze and was going to put in under my truck for him to enjoy. Driving to work the next day I noticed something laying in the road, someone had done my dirty work for me. Someone did the neighborhood a favor and didn’t slow down. Made for a very nice day. And I still have a full jug of antifreeze.
Someone else's take which I agree with: Link "Look. These are your pets, right? If you can't house and care for them properly, be it for lack of time, space, or money, you should not have so many cats! Cats belong indoors - period. I hate it when people say "but they like it outside", and "they need to go out" or "they cry till I let them out". Bunk. That's your fault, not the cats, and not the neighbors. Who is responsible for the cats? You are. Either take care of them properly, or don't have them. Ponder this. If I had 20 dogs because I love dogs, but my house was too little or I was unable to really be responsible for them, or I just wanted the dogs to be able to do whatever they wanted to do, and I let them wander all over the place, would that be OK? No, it wouldn't for obvious reasons. So then why do people think just because they are cats, it is OK for them to go wherever, pooping, killing birds, getting sick, getting lost or run-over, having fights or whatever? It isn't right. Maintain and control them like a responsible pet-owner, or relinquish that duty - its that simple. Cats aren't toys and they aren't a part-time responsibility that many seem to believe. I'm not defending your neighbor here, but have you put yourself in his shoes? Are you being a good neighbor by respecting his property-rights and trying everything to resolve the issue? Who started this whole mess? Who is not being responsible for their "property" and the consequences that property faces when it is out of your control? YOU are responsible for your cat at all times- -period. Just because they are cats, does not mean its OK to let them do whatever they want. You have to exist with other people in a society, and respect of one's property goes a long way in that regard. Here's a prediction. When you control your cats, and stop with the "oh poor me" routine, your neighbor will stop threatening and low and behold peace will break out. Please get your head out of your butt. Your cats are suffering as a result."
My neighbors love my pets. There was a block party recently and every said they liked my pets a lot. They are part of the smaller scale, down to earth neighborhood were people put more importance on life than things like precious teak furniture, thank god.
No, man... alls I'm saying is the MANNER in which you are PLANNING this... it's sort of... oh, I don't know... PRE-MEDITATED, YOU KNOW? I mean, if you do it unconsciously--which now you can't say you did--it would be forgiven, but if you're doing it "just to see", or to cause harm, man, that's just mean... My point is, your intent is there.
Planning? I am not planning on doing anything. I have been dealing with the problem for 4 years. I don't kill animals, I trap a few...have caught 2 racoons, and 2 possums, but still trying to catch that Armadillo tearing up my yard. And I relocate the animals to the country...... I actually believe similarly to Meowgi...about life, but am annoyed as hades at my neighbors and their lack of respect for others. KEEP YOUR ****ING CATS INDOORS ! DD
it is not about the teak furniture you numbskull, it is about the cat hair that causes my 2 boys and wife to get sinus infections and sneeze uncontrollably. It is RUDE for you to let your pets roam the neighborhood, you are being irresponsible. I wonder how welcome you would be at the block party if they knew how much you hate kids. DD
If swilkknsss wsn't so niiice and lett mee to the entirrre houssse, while he was away, I would scratch your assss. Sincerely,
You're changing your SH*T. Now you're saying "you catch them and relocate them." BULL. Here's your original post in which you are planning to murder stray cats, whether they have an owner or not is out of the question .
I was asking a question about the legality of it. You know, is it legal to do it.....not saying I would ever do it..... Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind though....but I would never do that, I just could not bring myself to murder anything. It is the same way I feel about hunting, I just can't do it..... I like a good steak like anyone, but I am not a killer....... Hey, maybe if I catch the cats, and shave all their hair off, it would solve the problem....no more cat hair.....and I think the neighbors would get the message !!! What do you think? Everyone likes a shaved p***y, right? DD
What bs. I have allergies too. I have NEVER heard someone complain about outdoor animals because of allergies. You are being absurd. It's like saying you are allergic to a forest. I am allergic to the Earth. I am also extremely allergic to Hawks, lizards, and moths but I will let them be in peace. Spider monkeys make me go into convulsions.
Because the thought HAS crossed my mind, but my conscience would never allow it. And to see how irresponsible people would deal with that type of situation, and who they would blame for it if their cats got poisoned. Because, in reality, if their cat got poisoned when they let it out of their house, it is their fault. They are responsible for their pets. DD
