I don't know if cats are like dogs or not ... I do know that if a dog sniffs at another does not mean the rest of the world also thinks it's a good thing.
But then you wake up to realize that was all a dream. As you roll over to get out of bed you see that all of your bedding is a just a series of intricately woven cat fur. Quickly you place your feet on the floor to get out of bed only to feel the cold squish of cat feces between your toes. "Why is this happening?!!" you scream and run to the bathroom. Once in the bathroom you close the door without looking into the bathroom. As you turn you see your wife facing away from saying (ala Super Troopers) "meow, how do you like my new perfume?" As you grab her shoulder to spin her around you look at her at hands to see the bottle of perfume and you realize it's the neighbor's tomcat. "Oh God!!! She's been sprayed!!!" aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh
Hah...I worked on WC......am also the voice of "Primate".... A new Wing Commander saga would be great, wouldn't it? DD
As long as we get to play as Blair! I don't care if he's 100, I'm controlling the dude anyway. Get thy lt. Casey bs outta here!
I'm sure leaving cans of tuna in your yard in no way increases the amount of cats who come onto your property. It's not like they could smell it or anything.
I haven't read but two or three pages of this but I seriously thought the question was being posed with the hypothetical cat's health in mind. Like, they should be let out because that's what's natural and it's good for their mental health vs. they shouldn't because they could get sick, injured or killed. I never in a million years would have imagined this was a question about cats as a nuisance. Never in a million years. We don't have any more right to "our" properties, in the natural world, than cats do.
It is refreshing as hell to see someone consider another point of view without getting defensive. I'm going to try to follow your example at my next opportunity. Repped.
"Refreshing as hell" is probably not the right expression I would say... But yes, it is refreshing... Plus rep DD...
I'd like to clear up a few things. (1) I don't trap cats because I want to be a "tough guy." Simply put - I won't accept them being on my property any more. I would much prefer not having this situation at all. (2) I have never poisoned or killed any cat. I have tried getting them off my property in other ways, to no avail. The trap is the only way that has worked. (3) As I've said before, if I knew that a cat that was in my yard belonged to a neighbor of mine, I would talk to that neighbor in a cool way and ask him nicely not to let his cat out. That said, none of the people around me own cats. (2) I am following the advice of the SPCA. In fact, I've borrowed traps from them in the past. I highly recommend it - you have to put down a small deposit (I think it was $25), and you get it back when you return the trap. After you've caught a cat, you just call the SPCA and they will come to your house and remove the cat (note: don't go near the trap - trapped cats are extremely violent and will scratch you). (3) VooDooPope - Well sheesh, I'm not saying that cats are Satan's minions. (4) Batman Jones - well, in the "Natural World," that's true, kinda. But in that "Natural World," I'd have the natural right to hunt, kill, and eat a cat, while the cat's older brother, the lion, would have the right to hunt, kill, and eat me.
droxford: Is this one of the cats you trapped? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Eht-kEzq88w&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Eht-kEzq88w&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
This makes you feel tough because you showed that damned cat. How dare he not look at the plat records to see where your property line is. For the love of Christ.
