btw it is still on the original site, would have thought if the rockets were serious about hush hush they would at least have asked the nba to get it removed from their site.
the Comets got new jerseys this season and they were already in the red/white scheme anyway. I dont think they will be changing logos though.
Well, maybe I exaggerated a little when I said it wasn't nearly enough to get an overall idea of the uni. But my pt, though, was that at least it wasn't a pic that revealed 60% or more of it. But oh well, I guess the whole logo mess proved you can't keep a good secret for long.
Spot on. Obviously they underrated the power of the world wide web. Someone needs to be kicked in the back side for this slip up. This situation will probably force Tim and Co to release/lunch the jersey sooner.
what situation? It's not like we saw the whole uniform. this thing is being blown way out of proportion.
i totally scooped that small blurry one...ha emailed it to about 20 people. my thread vanished 30 minutes later.
Has anyone heard from Clutch at all since his thread this morning telling us about the removal of the picture? He said he "get back in a minute". Hope some big guys didn't show up at his house in a van with a big red R on it, throw him in and take off! Seriously, have any of our admins or anyone else heard from him? Any idea when we'll find out what's up? Jeff, are you out there?
there will be a lot more people walking around with yao and francis jerseys this year..... hate to say....everytime i saw a dude wearing a houston jersey....i was thinking.....that man is brave.
or, how about this scenario... Cuttino Mobley: They could not be any better. Those are the best looking uniforms I have ever seen! Les Alexander: Trade him!
Channel 11 ran the picture, their source, the internet. They reported that The Rockets said, "that the uniform was a prototype."
Cuttino Mobley: They could have been better. Les Alexander: And you could PLAY better! P.S. Trade him!
Heh. This has been pretty funny reading and catching up. Here's what went down: My staff saw the picture on cc.net and nba.com this morning. I was out of town for meetings with the league in New York, and unreachable. They contacted Dave, told him the uniform that is glimpsed in the picture wasn't the final one (which is true; it's an early prototype), and asked Dave if he could take the picture off because they didn't want an incorrect version of the uniform out there. It wasn't a threatening call at all -- we have a great relationship with Dave and know as well as anybody how much work he puts into this site, and we just wouldn't ever approach him that way. It was just a request. (I talked to Dave once I got back in Houston. He confirmed this.) They then contacted the league, had them pull it off their sites, and contacted Taiwan, who was going to pull it off their site as soon as the admin got in. Time zone differences, go figure. All in all, my staff acted exactly as they should have. Sometime in the middle of the day they got hold of me and got me in the loop. When I landed in Houston and found out that other news outlets were going with it, I called Dave and told him that there was no sense in him holding back anymore. We joked about the conspiracy theories on the board (I can only wish I was clever enough to plant a leak on a Taiwanese site and have it make this big a splash), both our kids were crying in the background, and we made plans to talk more tomorrow. The photo is an official NBA photo that the league asked not be posted, and Dave was cool with that. I'm under no delusions, though; I know there's a bunch of copies floating around in cyberspace. And for what it's worth -- if we had actual copies of the final uniform in house tomorrow, we'd hold a big launch event for it tomorrow. We're really not trying to hold out on this ... we just need to get the goods before we can show them. If all this means we'll get the uniforms a few days sooner, great -- we'll move up the release date. Tim
Yao: They suck Steve: They're better than the PJ's Les: Trade those sorry sons o *****es Cuttino: Yo Piatkowski: Yoooooo Boki: Yao!?
thats exactly what i said. i think i'll be replacing Ms Cleo at the psychic hotline Originally posted by mulletman 07-28-2003 01:22 PM could it be that ther jersey mobley is wearing is not the finalized version? couldnt that be the reason Clutch took the pic down? The Rockets may have informed him that they dont want pics of the incorrect versions of the jersey floating around
WTF...I'm gonna go blind...their forums are flashing my eyes. But anyways...what is that guy doing? Everyone reads this board...
Tim, thanks for posting as usual, but..... Why would the NBA make a commercial, not to be released until potentially October-November, with Cat wearing a prototype jersey!? Uh uh, didn´t happen. The threads on his back are the real things. Believe it. Also, don´t screw us Houston fans over and put ¨Rockets¨on both versions of the jersey. We need representation. I don´t think Houston written over the number 11 will stop a 13 year old Chinese boy from buying a jersey.
