da dakota, while i admire u from speaking from ur heart..lighten up and enjoy the moment dude..u seem all pessimistic all the time now ------------------ How Sweet It Is! How Sweet It Is! Gene Peterson on the rockets winning the 1995 championship over the Orlando Magic
Duncan sures took some punishment from Cato down low. I think if dream can only teach him some more he's got potential.Way to go CATO!! ------------------ Rudy T. will find and fulfill Rockets destiny.
I'll admit Cato did a good job on staying in the game... it's easier to guard Duncan when you're a 7-footer, hehe. At the same time, though, I think it wouldn't have been a mistake to rotate off A.J. when he and Duncan were on the same side of the floor. I don't know if that happened all that often, but I do remember the one sequence where Stevie was able to get a steal and finish the break. Avery Johnson can hit the mid-range jumper, but the 3 is another story... and it's definitely less likely to go in than a 3-foot hook by Duncan. Still - Great Job KC! Nice game by the Rockets. ------------------
I thought Cato did a brilliant job on Duncan for the first three quarters, but in the fourth, Duncan scored at will. It reminds me of last year's overtime loss to the Spurs. Kenny held Duncan to 8 points through three, and in the fourth Duncan scored something like 19 points to send the game into OT. Duncan's twos did get the Spurs back in it. If Mobley hadn't made that spectacular shot, the Spurs would have been able to tie the game. The lead went from 10 to 2 in two minutes. They should have doubled at least once or twice. Anyway, Cato still did a great job. If Duncan had been "on" for the other three quarters, the Rockets would have lost by thirty. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. Damn your ZRB....just.....leave!! It was a great homecourt win over a top team that had our number! Who the f*** cares how, just rejoice! You wait till late night to say this? Maybe, just maybe...it was Rocket team defense that was "on" tonight. ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS
I thought they did a solid job, especially on Duncan, until the 5 minute mark in the fourth. Yes it was a great win, but I still feel I have the right to criticize. You can't deny that Duncan was scoring at will in the fourth. It was a great win, but I think the Rockets should review tape of that segment of the fourth quarter and work with it to improve their D. If the Rockets do end up playing the Spurs in the playoffs, they would probably prefer to avoid defensive collapses like that. Their defenive meltdown nearly cost them the game(but didn't). It can't hurt to review, can it? You have to give a lot of credit to Duncan though, he is pretty damn good isn't he. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. By the way, you have to remember that it isn't quite as late at night for me as it is for you. I live in PST. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
The Catomic Bomb definitely needs to get more respect for his great play. Especially since it was against the best pf in the league. ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams and Lisa Malosky fan club. atheistalliance.org
It is true. If Duncan were on in the first 3 quarters then we might not have won.... It is also true that a million other factors could have affected the game and there is no one else in the leaugue that could have stayed within 15 points of us in the forth quarter yesterday. Don't forget that Carlos had a block on Duncan and Cato can only get better. Remember last year: Cato had two blocks on Shaquille in the forth quarter of our win against the Lakers.
While I watched the game on tv, I was also re-shafting some golf clubs. Working with epoxy requires some attention, so I couldn't savor the game like I really wanted to. As has been pointed out, for Cato to play man on Duncan and not foul out is a huge, huge plus. The stats show Los with 3 blocks, so his minutes were real productive, also. We don't need our centers to score much, but we do need them to play defense. I complain about Bull's defense, but his game means so much more if there is someone in the middle, clogging the lane. Got to say Cat's bucket at the end was huge and a thing of beauty. Even if the ball doesn't drop, it is a great decision by him to pull up for the mid-range j in that situation. This could be a real defining game. In the first half, our stars were the reason we were losing. In the second half, our stars were the reason we came back and won. With the rest of the team doing their job, Steve and Cat made the difference. This time it was against the Spurs. I really think this game proves they can beat anybody. They have been saying it for some time, now, but now there is some hard evidence. ------------------
