I'd love to have Cat back .. He was easily one of my favorite players. The guy lives and breathes basketball and actually loves being out there rather than it being just a paycheck. From everything I've heard, he plays more ball in the offseason than anyone else. That's the kind of guy I want on my team. I think with T-Mac and Yao in the offense, he would learn when to take his shot and when to defer.

All that said, I too think it would be a long shot. It's just not good timing for the Rockets right now.

What? Cat has nowhere near the passing ability or inclination as Barry. Cat is closer to an upgraded Wesley. Taller, better off the dribble, finishes about the same, both are good defenders, and both have up and down shooting strokes (though it seems like Cat is a tad bit less streaky). Yeah, I'd take Cat back, especially if he came for the MLE. That'd be a pretty good deal, if it was possible.

If we get a better passing PG, Cat would be a really good fit. He has a good head on his shoulders and would adjust to our team if he came here.

    CD,
Find a way to get this done. Mobes is a great 2, and my favorite Rocket. He may be 29, but he's still in his prime. A huge low post presence like Yao will help him dramatically. I thought he did pretty well for Sac-town, and teams pretty much keyed in on the perimeter against them.

How well could Cat play the point? Doesn't Cat have the size that JVG wants in a point a guard. I also thought he did pretty well getting the ball to the hands of Dream and Barkley when we had him. At 6'5, 29 yrs old and better three point shooting than Sura I think he'd be the perfect starting point guard for us.

Cuttino Mobley would be awsome. Mobley is a good defender and he has a superb offensive game. With his athleticism and 3 point shooting, he would truly make teams pay for doubling off him to help with T-Mac or Yao.

If Mobley wants a 5 or 6 year deal, at MLE, I think he earned it. He took a lot less money last time he signed for this team; and he even took the trade without any incedents. I never read anything where he took jab at the Rockets after the trade.

I know for a fact from people working for the Rockets, that JVG was always mad at Mobley because he never ran the play that was called. Apparently JVG wanted to get rid of Mobes for that reason. But, I hope that JVG sees that Cuttino is very talented and he could help this team immensley. If Cuttino wants to play here, then the Rockets should try to help him come back here.

I really find it hard to believe that he really meant that he wants to come back to the Rockets.
If so..it would be mentioned by now in local media or whatever.
I just don't find it very credible.

But I really wish it was true..I'd love to have Mobley here. Actually, I'd rather have a tenacious hustler/defender gritty type player who is high-energy tough/tight defense type guy. Mobley is softer imo but heck yeah it'd be awesome if he came back to the Rockets. He and Tmac lightin it up!

Maybe we could keep Sura then..get rid of Wesley..or still get Antonio Daniels and get rid of Sura.

Then power forward! Many options to get our power forward.

    I hope it's true. :)

If you can't take care of your family with the Mid-Level Exemption, then you need to hire a personal accountant and a psychiatrist.

I created a team in my NBA live 2005, which has T-mac, CAT, and Yao and they are rated 93. If we get mobley at the SG spot that would make our starting line up perfect. Mcgrady won't have to guard Kobe like players anymore. We will have tons of offense and a good defensive lineup with T-mac and Mobley, and Mike james. we could have MMMM's. All the good teams around the league have a good starting lineup. SA, Detroit, PhX. We only have Yao and T-mac and sometimes even Yao doesn't produce like a starter. We need a player like Mobley who can make our starting lineup more solid

You know, I was actually thinking that one more reason to bring Cat back would to make Weisbrod look that much more dumb. :D Like the Magic just borrowed him for a bit. Isn't Christie doing everything within his power to get out of there too?

why we care so much for the price to get Mobley? If it is just 2 or 3 millions more a year, let's just do it. After all it's Les's money and I do not think spending couple more millions will make him miserable. I just want to improve our team. Look what the other teams like Mavericks, Lakers are doing to get to the top.

Bring back Cat, he is very good.

I thought I read somewhere that we still had a 2.4 million dollar trade exception from the TMAc trade. Maybe I was wrong.

Well even if he wants to come back there is reason to believe that JVG does not want him back. I would love to get Mobley back and i thought that he did a great job of adjusting his role on the team last year to fit in with the flow of the offense. Chances are that he wont be here at the start of next season but crazier things have happened.

JVG was pretty vocal after Orlando traded Cat to Sac. Said it was the 2nd worse trade they made (after McGrady). Sounds to me he has some respect for the Cat.

Cat would be an almost perfect fit with the Rockets. He's a team player, above average shooter, good defender & in a pinch could play pg. Has to be for the right price though.

Saying it in the media is one thing. Signing the guy to a 3/4 yr contract is another thing. Obviously I dont have any hard proof weither or not JVG like CAT but I just get the feeling that Mobley is not is type of player. Of course with all the said if the Rockets dont land Swift/SAR with the MLE Mobley is probably my #3 realistic option (yes ahead of Antonio daniels and Marshall).
