Sorry- I should have put quotes around that statement. It was a quote from the Simmons article. Check the link.
I'll take a bigger, more athletic, healthy, 22 year old Rik Smits at center. Combine that with Steve, Cat, MT and Rice, not to mention all of our bench depth. Not bad at all...
Great read...don't agree with a lot of it, but I do, and always have, believed that every team needs guys like Horry who don't need the ball to remain in the game, and I think that that was part of the greatness of the original Dream Teams...The presence of guys like Bird and Magic made lesser stars realize and get behind their roles even if they were supporting ones...Nowadays, they (almost) all want to be the big dog, or they don't want to be there....So if you can't get the bigger names to be happy with lesser roles, get guys like Horry who do it all the time. BTW, is LeGrouper gonna issue an apology to white lightning now, for the 'idiot' implication?
It's so easy to fix the problem. You got to solve it like a true capitalist. There should be a rule that 10% of the top 20 highest paid NBA players' salary should be put into a pool. Money will be deducted from the pool whenever the dream loses any international games. I bet we'll have players eager to play and win.
That article loses all crediblity by stating that Rudy is good at making adjustments on the fly. I can't think of many, if any adjustments Rudy has made the last 2-3 years.
