Anyone that readsthis board know I'm one of the biggest Odom supporters, but in know way would i give up the number 1 for him. I like what he brings and even tough he was injured, he's stil a very good, young ball player. I watched the interview and thas exactly why think you do whats best for the organization. He's talking about a fast break. Show me a better fast break than when the big man get the reb, passes to the pg in the middle of the floor, the 2 and 3 fill the lanes and the big guy that didn't get the rebound fills the lane asa trailer. To me it seems he and steve doesn't want to take the responsibilty of guards. Show me a better break than Magic in the middle, Worthy and scott on the wings and green or rambis trailing. What about when Malone used to fill the lane after a rebound for Utah. He's backwards, but iI'm not going to really blast him. The thing is , its hard to fast break when you're getting the ball out of the net after a score. Its hard to fastbreak if you can't get a rebound. Its hard to win without some sort of presence down low in the west. I'm through with it.
I would rather have McDyess than Odom. And I wouldn't mind including Mobley in the trade for McDyess either.
I would be all for Odom if it weren't for the potential drug suspenion. I don't care if he smokes doobage, but the possibility of losing an intrigal player for a year is scary.
Notice how when asked about whether or not there would be enough shots to go around if Lamar was around, Mobley said that Lamar would get the putbacks. Does this mean that Mobley will still be jacking up 25 shots a game? If Odom is on the Rockets next year, the Rockets will be a team that only gets into the first round and out. I don't see them being able to beat the Mavs, Spurs, Lakers, or Kings. I am not sure if the Rockets will ever be able to get out of the first round if all we have are two guards who just jack up shots without getting anyone involved. Another question is if the Rockets do draft Ming, how will Mobley and Francis react? Will those two just become whining little biatches? Maybe we can trade these two "buddies" and get a Baron Davis or Andre Miller in return. I wish that Barkley were still on the team so that he can slap these two around a bit.
I (obviously) don't post very often, but what Mobley said is getting me annoyed. I don't mind if he favors Odom over any #1 pick, I just mind the fact that he doesn't have the sense to be a professional. He is placing pressure on management by asking them to cater to his wants (something I feel only a true championship-caliber player should demand, and even then without telling anyone other than management) on TV. This is bound to anger Rocket's management. And even if this does not happen, I have to agree with New Jack that Ming or whatever other possible player with the #1 may take Cat's comments personally. Personally, I don't think Odom is worth the #1, but that is besides the point. Cat is entitled to his own opinion, but he did nothing good by telling it to the world.
The Rockets are like that old video game "Pong"... Cat shoots, Steve shoots, Cat Shoots, Steve shoots..... Moochie dribbles......... Ack.
It's time to trade Francuttino.....and take their little buddy Norris too. Basketball is a team sport, not and hangout spot for pot buddies.
NIKE: Could you elaborate on this one? I missed those discussions and someone I trust and who would know told me recently that it is a year for him on the next violation. Sorry to make you repeat yourself.
Unless the Rockets are feeding Cat and Steve these lines as intentional leaks, then those 2 need to shut up! It's fine that they're leaders and they should express their opinions on what to do with the pick, but ONLY TO ROCKET MANAGEMENT. If they go spouting off in public they stand a very good chance of screwing up whatever leverage the Rockets might have if they did want to trade the pick. If they really ARE trying to trade for Odom and Cat spoke out of turn, then the Clips just gained leverage by thinking the team is willing to trade #1 so these two don't pout and Steve re-signs. Stick to your area of expertise Cat and Steve. Leave negotiations and leveraging to those who know how to play that game.
Yeah -- it was a discussion of a topic in an earlier thread that it's 5-games each time. I think that's correct. I just saw that interview with Mobley and I came away asking myself: Any team with a top-5 pick need a shooting guard?
Its The Best Damn Sports Show Period - we're probably the only ones that watched it. Its not like he told Rockets management what to do, he gave his opinion on the matter. Something Jalen Rose did on The Last Word the previous half-hour. They're allowed to have opinions, as long as it doesn't turn into some kind of coercion(do this or else), I don't see what the ****ing deal is.

Hey, NewJack: excellent idea ... that makes a lot of sense... if Chicago gives us Crawford not to take Williams, and then we package Crawford and Thomas for Odom. That works! Both teams come out ahead. We still keep our #1 pick, take Ming. Cato/Ming/Sampson Griffin/Taylor/Hilario or Stoudamire Odom/Rice/TMo Mobely/Dixon/Torres Francis/Norris/Brown - Trade Crawford/Thomas for Odom - Pick Ming #1 - Take Hilario/Stoudamire/Ely/Haislip #15 - Trade down w/Detroit pick (22) to later in first round, get 2003 or 2004 pick for Atlanta, take Jamaal Sampson/Marcus or whichever center falls... - Take Juan Dixon at #38 That's a much improved team!
Cat said "I love you coach, but...." right b4 explaining how he'd rather trade for Odom than take Ming. The way he said it made it pretty clear that RT wants Ming and he disagrees. I don't think this was a front office ploy or anything to throw off other teams like Chicago. It was just a jackass who overtalks as much as he overshoots.
I would not be surprised one bit to see the Rockets new acquisitions be: Odom Wilcox Juan Dixon I may not be considered a Rocket fan anymore but a fan of the Maryland Alumni & Buddies Jesus...I don't know what else to say other than do the right thing, Rockets mgmt: Draft on what your team wants, not what a couple of clueless jabronis want.
Txdonk- I like that term "Francuttino." If Francuttino are really pressuring management to trade for some crack addict and if Rudy and CD gave into these two clowns by trading Ming then I hope that everytime the Rockets play Ming's team, that Ming drops 40 points on them. I would just loooove to see the reaction on Rudy's face when he sees what could have been but instead can't see at all due the fact that there is too much smoke coming out from the potheads sitting on his bench.
BTW, the Best Damn Sports Show is re-running again right now on FSN. Mobley should be on between now and midnight, if you missed the interview the first time. Also, for those suggesting trading Cuttino, remember he's not the only one with these sentiments. This somewhat backs up Troy's original source, and if Francis thought it best to keep it "under wraps", I'm sure he would've said so before Cat went on national TV. Cuttino may have said it, but Steve's guilty too. I do have a bad feeling that we may not be getting Ming... never a good sign when your two stars are against it.
MANNY DO THE RIGHT THING!!! NOT WHAT YOUR PLAYERS THINK BUT WHAT IS BEST FOR THE TEAM! MOBLEY /FRANCIS.....PLAYERS. RUDY,C.D. LES ETC....MANAGEMENT. Let the Management do its job!!!!!
*sigh* be afraid. be very afraid. A hang out fest, on Les' and your dollar, is coming to a new stadium near you. Gee, maybe we can draft Wilcox w/ the #8 and Dixon at #15. be afraid. be very afraid. seriously though, Cuttino for ?, Steve for the #2, Mooch to ??? damn I guess we have to waive Mooch... no team w/ decent management would sign Mooch to that money. Note to self, Mooch got money because Francis had management's ear. damnit. be afraid. be very afraid.
