Whatever position you stand for, you would be more effective making your point by praising Cat or Francis, instead of tearing down the other player. Just a suggestion.

pooh: Scoring efficiency is not closely related to explosiveness. Few would argue that Francis is more efficient, probably... I think he's more explosive, but that's more subjective.

Pued: It's sort of hard to assert that one is more explosive without a comparison, and that always inadvertantly demeans one a bit.

Why is it that everytime BC defeats a major conference opponent, that opponent promptly goes on a losing streak?

What are these supposed 'pot-shots' at Steve. I have said maybe one bad thing about Steve, and that was that he went 5-14 against Orlando, just the facts.
This is a legit post, all I am saying, is let me give my opinion. This happens in allmost every other post, opinions go head-to-head and almost nothing can be agreed on. Not everyone has to like your opinion, only respect it, and I do. I have not shown disrespect to you or Steve, and you HAVE shown respect to me and Cuttino, and respect that.
Don't give up on your case, if you think he(Steve) is more explosive then to try and prove me wrong. This is not personal, I don't hate Steve. This should never be a fued, it should be a great discussion. We have five or six BBSers that feel passionate about this topic and we should talk about friendly, not like we are on opposite sides of a war.

Cuttino is an explosive SCORER, ala Reggie Miller, which has nothing to do with athletic explosiveness, even though Cat oozes with athleticism. Francis has the edge as far as ATHLETIC explosiveness, and though he doesnt have the agressivness of Cuttino on offense, I have seen games where he has exploded scoring wise in a quarter.Games I saw him explode in were the Utah game at home this year, against the cavs saturday for 17 in the 4th, and when he scored 21 in the 1st quarter at chicago last year. Cuttino is as efficient, and probably more successful, than many of the supposed top shooting guards in the league. He is very underrated. Francis has done everything the team has asked of him and some. Can't say enough about the 2 of them.

    Haven,

I have to say one more thing, now that you are quoted on the front page. Cuttino passes out of double teams more than Francis does. You've got Cuttino caught up in this stereotype of ball hog, and you are applying baseless assumption on it.

Francis attacks doubles more than Cuttino. Cuttino obeys his coach, waits for the double, and passes around the horn. He can still be called a ball hog. But extrapolating that to say doubles are more effective on him is a huge non-sequitor.

I think one point is being forgotten here. Cuttino is second to only Iverson in one-on-one situations.

Iverson is good on one-on-one, but he is not great. He gets a lot of his points on the break and off nice feeds from Mckie and Snow. I would put AI and Mobes equal in one-on-one. If not now, Mobes will soon be equal to AI [IMG]

Iverson gets better separation on his mid-range shots, and gets off the ground for his midrange with more balance than Cuttino, right now.

Getting better separation on midrange shots with a quick, balance jump is an area where Cuttino can stand improvement. Francis's jumpshots do show more balance and consistency than Mobley.

I think one way to sum up this discussion is: Francis can do what Mobley is great at, better than Mobley can do what Francis is great at.

    bottom line, cuttino.

if you had to have one of those players to go 1 on 1 for the last shot of the game, who's it gonna be? i'm going with cat because he doesn't dribble carelessly, looks for contact, and - when he decides to go by his man - does so without the time-consuming danger of cross over, behind the back, juking dribbling.

that said, i love steve. but as for explosiveness (in the sense of getting by your man) there really is no comparison.

think about it. if steve had that kind of explosiveness, he'd blow by his man practically every time from the top of the key - virtually FORCING a double team.

what steve has is more HIGHLIGHT FILM EXPLOSIVENESS.

HP: I'm probably not on *very* solid ground when I say that I haven't seen Mobley pass more than Francis in tough situations. Stevie gets stuck, as do Mobley, occasionally in ISO's, but Francis seems to have the good sense to bail out more often. Now, I'm perfectly aware that you watch far more games t han I do. Simply what *I've* observed. I'm not extrapolating anything.
