Being a lefty should have nothing to do with this discussion. Maybe if no one knew who he was and they did't knew he was lefty and they couldn't decide which way he was going, then maybe we can bring it up. Mobley is also very versatile, he can go left or right, is that what you trying to say, the defender dosn't know which hand to defend? ------------------ "GiddyUP!!!" Krammer from Seinfeld
I have documented info that Mobley ran a faster 40 in preseason then Francis, what more do you need? I can see I am at a loss here because I am going up against 3 or 4 BBSers. You guys are welcome to discuss it further, but I will stop unless I see something posted that is outragous or someone joins me in my cause, maybe Heypartner, do you want to join? ------------------ "GiddyUP!!!" Francis is more explosive athleticly. Cuttino is more explosive as far as scoring is concerned. Cuttino is the type of player who can heat up, and before you realize it, he's run up 8-12 pts in a short period of time. BTW - Last night's game is not a good indication of how defense's react to either player since the Cavs were blatantly playing a zone for the majority of the game. ------------------ The Rockets will be the NBA champions. Believe.
Cat has a quicker first step and can get to the basket better than Francis, but Steve has the all around game, he can shoot better, he has better court vision, and can get up higher and dunk harder. Therefore, Steve is the more explosive player, Cat just has a quicker first step.
Demmit! I got your back RockenRam 5! I just stepped outside for a bit and I noticed this unfounded blitz. Let me tell yall something, explosion has a lot to do with getting to the hoop. I am not saying Francis isn't quick and explosive because he is, but it is very apparent that Cuttino is the better of the two in that respect. Hence it is highly logical to conclude Cuttino is the more explosive of the two. period! ------------------ Sometimes you gotta do the next best thing!
btw- Yall know how much love I have for both Francis and Cuttino, so I am not hating. ------------------ Sometimes you gotta do the next best thing!
ROXRAN, it would seem logical but it isnt. And like you, I have love for both of them, so I'm not hatin on Cat. ------------------
Good point he is a tough matchup. But many guys in this league could put 50 on any other team. But they realize that they are putting up stupid shots over 3 defenders so they pass it to the open man and settle for the assist. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
Francis is much more explosive than Cat, no question. He's quicker, better ballhandler (no matter how much Mobley sits in the corner and dribbles), he has better moves, and if a defender plays him just a tiny bit too close, boom, hes already at the basket jumping over their biggest player. ------------------ The Rockets Championship in 2001...Be-Steve-it
He is just so hard to guard. When you have a guy 6'8 and can dribble, shoot, and rebound it makes it tough to say he couldn't have scored 50 on the Rockets. But revenge is coming up really soon. ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
I don't know why it took me so long to figure this out, but rockenram5 is a Rhode Island fan. I guess that is why he is so persistent in trying to convince us that Cuttino is a better athlete. BTW, what is Steve's 40 time ? ------------------ "Roses are red. Violets are blue. I'm a schizophrenic and so am I."
That has something to do with it, but I just like Cat a little more than Steve, b/c he is more explosive. Just watch the game against Boston, Steve will be at the wing and he wont get doubled, I am willing to bet on it. ------------------ "GiddyUP!!!" Krammer from Seinfeld
I never said better althlete, more explosive might mean better athlete to you, but not me. Cat is very athletic, he played three varsity sports in a Philly highschool If I recall correctly, Steve was a 4.4, and Cat a 4.3. ------------------ "GiddyUP!!!" Krammer from Seinfeld
Rockenram5: Let's make this a little more clear: people feel more able to doubleteam cat because HE DOESN'T PASS ENOUGH. That's right, he's a BALL HOG. While it's not as bad as it used to be, he's still much less likely to dish to the open man that Francis is, thus making the double team more effective. It's all a matter of playing the percentages. If double teaming Mobley reduces his scoring effectiveness to any extent, and he's not likely to burn you with the pass, you don't have much to lose by trying. On the other hand, even if double teaming worked JUST AS WELL (not saying it does) on Francis, it's not as good of an investment because he's more likely to exploit you. ------------------ Shandon Anderson rocks. rocken, why do you need heyp to back you ? Is he a Francis hater ? ------------------ "Roses are red. Violets are blue. I'm a schizophrenic and so am I."
Since it's so close and we are all obviously divided or don't give a sh*t, I say we compare their 2-Ball performances. Anyone have those results handy? ------------------
Cuttino is more explosive than Steve in a playoff game..oops I dont know that yet since Steve hasn't played in one yet. Just kidding. Why is everyone hating? They are both on the same team. If they were on opposite sides then I could see the comparisons but they aren't. I am glad as Hell to have both of them because either of them could "explode" for 30 points. ------------------ Rockets Season Ticket Holder
gr8-1, he doesn't hate Francis, just a lot of the time he backs someone on how they feel about Mobes. I dont know what the 2-ball has to do with this, but both Francis and Mobes did bad. I believe Steve did worse then Cat last year and thats why they went with Mobes b/c Francis stunk it up. Anyway, Mobes hit 4 of his 7 shots for 25 of the teams 35 points, and usually the WNBA does better then the NBA players. If Mobley was teamed up with someone else, they could have got into the finals ------------------ "GiddyUP!!!" Krammer from Seinfeld
