Utterly stupid...there is no defense for this...none. Period. For as much as I dislike Rudy, I guarantee you that Rudy didnt see this as a smart, or right thing to do.
Man, good thing I spent most of my time in Nova Scotia. Actually most Maritimers (Atlantic Canada) & Westerners (The Prairies and BC) have this impressions that Toronto is more like Yankeeville than the Yankees themselves. Having lived in the Southwest US for several years I can categorically say that Texans are not anywhere near being as insufferable as Yankees. It's almost a requirement of citizenship in Texas that you distance yourself from anyone north Texarkana. So I may actually forget what a Yankee is. LOL
If I make a mistake and someone else makes a mistake, my mistake is fine because he did it, too, right?
… or perhaps wannabe Yankeeville. So, you're a Bluenoser. I guess that explains the Popeye name. My parents are both from the south shore, so I get out there from time to time. It's a beautiful place.
Cat looked like a moron because he talked the talk and couldn't walk the walk, but I'm sure if he told Harrington he was going to make it, and then made it, we'd be talking about how bad ass Cat is. Now he just looks like a dumbass...
Well if you're only allowed to talk trash when you are definitely going to "walk the walk" then no one ever could because you can never know if you are going to make the shot or the play or whatever. You just do it to pump yourself up and show the opponent how confident you are and to maybe get in their head. I'm sure most guys in the NBA don't really care what trash the other person talks and it's mostly just a fun little thing they do. Hell I even sometimes talk trash when I'm playing just for the thrill of it. Sometimes I throw up a brick, sometimes I hit it. The trash talking didn't have anything to do with it. As for the specific situation with Mobley: 1. Maybe it wasn't the greatest thing to say but I don't think it was that bad. 2. If the other team believes anything you say coming out of the huddle they are idiots. 3. It wasn't like Cuttino had a special play designed for him. In effect it was just catch the ball outside the 3 point line then isolate and get a shot. I mean if he came out of the huddle saying "hey, KT's gonna set a pick for steve and then he's gonna drive the lane and mooch is gonna set a back pick on you and I'm gonna go catch an alley from steve" then that would've been stupid but I don't think telling harrington you're gonna shoot helped him play straight up one-on-one defense any better. If Cat had said I'm gonna pass, would harrington have just let him blow by him then told Isiah later, "well he said he was gonna pass." 4. Judging by the fact harrington thought Cat would shoot a 3, he certainly didn't know the particulars of what was gonna happen. Anyway, everyone is making way too big a deal out of this I think.
Definitely not a big deal. People just like to b****. Mobes has a lot of confidence and likes to talk. Big whoop.
francis 4 prez, I think you misunderstood my point, Mobley can talk as much trash as he wants to, anyone can talk as much trash as they want to, the point is Harrington got over on cat and made him look like a fool in the paper. I didn't say cat couldn't talk trash, I'm just saying that if he doesn't want to look like a moron, then he better follow through...
And when was the last time Cat did a head fake to draw the foul? I don't think he even knows how to do anything else but straight up shoot and block out the world around him. He can't pass when he doesn't have a shot, he can't fake and draw the foul...when does experience start to kick in? Cat's actually a beautiful passer when he does, but it seems he has to decide to pass a few seconds before he does it. point being, trash talking is best utilized by someone understanding its usefulness...cuttino is well known as a black hole in the nba, its almost a joke around the league. thats why his trash talking is useless. He's not going to pass it, he's going to shoot the ol' 18+ ft fadeaway while moving laterally...again. alas, my post has turned into mobley-bashing... my rant should've explained why it didn't matter that mobley told harrington the game plan. WHEN CAT GETS THE BALL EVERYONE KNOWS HE'S GOING TO SHOOT. PERIOD. So who cares if he told him before the play, after the play, 2 days before the play...If it was just harrington or a triple team he'll still shoot the ball. Now, to even out the bashing, he is playing defense a lot better lately.
