    What about Steve's number?

How would you like it if the Rockets signed Fisher and he became #3?

At least Fisher was a winner unlike Howard. Howard had a chance to be on winning team (Dallas) but they traded him for some other srubs.

How would you feel if Jacque Vaughn had Steve's number?
    or Charlie Ward?

Steve's number isnt retired. Why don't we let some scrub wear his number. ARGUE THAT!

The dictates of Francis? What int he hell are you talking about? For such a huge YOF, you should know how important Yao himself claims Steve was to him. You and Yetti, or you and you, need to drop this whole conspiracy theory bull sh*t. They aren't Rocket's anymore, focus your hate on McGrady now, because he's gonna take more shots than Francis did, bank on it.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw it. I know Mobley's number shouldn't be retired but a guy who played that well for the team should get a little respect. The right thing would have been to put the number on hold for a couple of years.

Now that really would be a slap in the face if a scrub like Derek Fisher got Steve's number.

    Much ado about nothing

Seriously... How did they give Eddie Otis Thorpe's number? How can Yao have Vernon Maxwell's number?

    Why didn't you complain then?

    From Howard the Duck himself:
    Voice of experience
"What I've gone through in the past has made me a lot stronger as an individual," Howard said. "When I signed the contract I signed, the media and fans ... had their opinions about me as a player. My money always overshadowed what I could do out there on the floor. On top of that, when the team doesn't do well, those things started coming up.

"Yes, I haven't been in the playoffs consistently in my career, but I've been there twice. I know what the atmosphere is like. I know what the intensity is like. I've stepped up to the plate and played well in the playoffs."

    -translates: "Im overrated"
    -translates: "People think I suck"

This is the line that kills me: " I've stepped up to the plate and played well in the playoffs."

That's right, I remember those great Juwan Howard playoff games like when he shot over Creg Ehloe and when he hit all those 3 pointers on the Knicks or when Howardchek stole the ball..

Since this about a Magic player shouldn't this be in the 'NBA Dish' forum?

John Lucus was a premier point guard in this league until drugs overtook him. He battled addiction for years, overcame his problem, and has become a widely respected counselor for a large number of NBA players. He still lives in Houston, and in looking back, ranks high among the all time great players for the Rockets.

Oh, and he wore #5 after he was drafted. Seems like Mobley disrepected Lucas.

    You're dissing Cat?
He worked hard for the Rockets and he didn't do drugs.
    He did Lucas proud.

Mug Root Beer. Sprite. Minute Maid. All caffeine-free.

Guy averages 17 and 7. Definitely not a scrub. Winning is a team thing. How come the Mavericks had a great record with him on the team? Kinda blows that theory out of the water.

Orlando's bench stunk, their starting 5 was nothing after those two (yes, including Gooden), and yes, he did have some responsibility for last year's record.

But a scrub? Come on, I thought it was the scarecrow that was missing.... never mind, no cheap shots allowed.

I have no problem whatsoever with a new scrub wearing Steve Francis' number. Bottom line is, Steve Francis was a good player for the Rockets. No more and no less. He was the best player on the #7 seed in the West last year. That's it. He is not Hakeem (the man who is synonymous with the Houston Rockets and the main reason we have two titles). He is not Clyde (an NBA all-time great and the epitomal hometown boy). He is not Moses Malone or Calvin Murphy or Elvin Hayes or Rudy Tomjanovich. If Matt Bullard can wear Ralph Sampson's #50, someone else can wear Francis' #3. Sampson could have been the best ever and led us to the Finals in 1986. Francis did nothing even close.

By the way, I am not calling Bullard a scrub. Bull is the man :)

Don't know what J. Howard has done to Tinman to deserve such hate. Ever since the trade is finalized, Tinman went on a personal crusade to diss J. Howard.

Wow they had such a great record with him they shipped his 17 and 7 butt off the team .

If this guy is so GREAT why don't good teams want him? I know this guy is here cause the Magic wanted to rid of him. They kept that other forward from Kansas instead, Doc Gooden.

Why didn't they trade Gooden? Why not Stephen Jackson?
Why is this guy ALWAYS traded?

What about Chris Gatling? they dude had a decent average too.

If Clyde can get his number retired, which I dont think he should, then we should retire Kenny Smith, Vernon Maxwell, and Sam Cassell's numbers.

Also, Barkley played hard also and he was a traded superstar, why didn't he get his number retired?

Mobley belongs in this group, he worked hard, he was loyal, he started in houston.

Back to Juwan. He's so overated, he belongs with Joe Smith and Glen Robinson. HOWEVER, Joe Smith and Glen Robinson are SO MUCH better than this guy.

The Rockets win with Defensive PFs. Yes Horry played great D. Juwan is not a Defensive player, plus he sucks.
