He did. Griffin blew wide open jumpers and a lay up. Moochie also blew a lay up. Those shots were wide open, and Steve got them those wide open shots.

The Rockets did employ a five man offense tonight... unfortunately, three of them were Pacers (O'Neal, Artest, and Strickland)

i must of said "pass the damn ball!" about 30 times while watching the game. 9 freakin assists. i was hoping for something different this game and i realize about a third of our squard is missing but damn.

was there even a time when cat shot the ball with just one defender on him?

Artest wasn't that great on the defensive end. Steve dropped 39 on him, and made Artest foul out.

The problem with Steve taking all those shots is that it alienates the rest of the offense. Other members of the offense expect to just run down the court and watch Steve go 1-on-1. They are not prepared to catch the ball, and they are certainly not prepared to shoot the ball. So even though Steve went off for 30+ points tonight, he failed miserably in his job of keeping everyone involved and creating open shots by passing. You can not win in the NBA by playing 1-on-5 every time down the court. Literally, our entire offense consisted of Steve or Cuttino dribbling 20 feet from the basket and taking an off balance shot with time running down on the shot clock. This is unacceptable and the primary reason why a mediocre team in the East dominated us down the stretch.

It's not all Steve and Cat's fault they lost, I agree. But let's say you were on the court and I decide not to pass to you because you missed a couple of shots previously, does that encourage you or demoralize you?

The apologists need to pull their heads out. That was a horrendous display. We have to have the absolute dumbest team in the league.

What year is it? Did last season ever end? Can we quit crying about injuries. Piss freaking poor.

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

there is no way to pin this loss on steve. maybe if his shot was off and he continued to jack it up, ala kobe or iverson last night, but that was not the case. the pacers had no answer for him and he was able to get inside and at least get to the line most of the night.

It's not like they only got one opportunity. Many of the players blew more than one open shot.

Steve, and Cato are really the only guys that came to play tonight. Griff did a good job on defense.

It would almost be OK if Moochie would come in and spark an offense but that doesn't happen either.

    Let's see:

Griffin shot 1-11 and 1 turnover
Cato shot 2-8 and had 2 turnovers
Moochie shot 2-7 and 4 turnovers

Who do you want Stevie and Cat to pass to, Jauquin?

If the other guys played hard defense, hustled, rebounded like madmen and SHOT LESS (get the hell out of the way) the Rockets just might have got a W (exceptions to Cato, who played very hard under the circumstance).

Yes. Pass to the other guys. They had less than five shots IIRC.
Juaquin, Nachbar, Ming. Are these guys practice heroes or real NBA players?

not true. Stats are EXTREMELY misleading. If you pass the ball around and trust your teamates more, everyone will get more involved and be more active on the court...they will have more motivation to play the game on both ends.... Because your team is more active, they'll rebound more and play defense with more intensity. Assists can factor in exponentially in the game.

Have you ever played ball with a great scorer who handles the ball all the time and never passes to anyone?

People, this is a TEAM game. Sure Francis put up some good individual stats but look no further than Jordan and Olajuwon early in their careers and notice how much success their teams had. Francis and Mobley's lack of trust and willingness to get their teamates involved just shows how they have not matured from last year and are not ready to lead the way into the playoffs. I knew the Rockets were in trouble from the start as soon as Mobley started jacking up shots with 20 seconds still remaining on the shot clock with multiple defenders in his face ! PASS the ball already !!!

Steve's heart tonight was as big as the rest of our teams combined. He sacrificed himself again and again when no one else could do anything. I don't understand how everyone can dog him the way that they do. The only problem is that if Steve plays the rest of the season the way he played this game, he won't last the rest of the season. If that happens then any hopes of playoffs this team has are gone. You need to appreciate just what a kick a** player he is and just what a vital part he plays for the Rockets. If last season taught us anything, it should have been that!

I thought Steve was much improved in handling the fast break. There were at least times when Steve made the great pass on the break and his teammates didn't score. Steve also had that nice toss in back of him for the score on the fast break, and I think it was Hawkins who hit the shot.

Just to give you all an update, Steve Nash had 5 assists in the first 12 minutes of tonight's game. Oh, and coincidentally, Dallas has a commanding lead.

Yeah he made some good plays, it was overshadowed by some boneheaded plays on the break in my mind. There was a couple of times when there was a rocket WIDE open underneath on the break, but steve elected to go up for the tough layup and either brick the shot or get called for a charge..
