He won't accept the LLE or MLE, yet he is only talking to teams with the LLE and MLE, how strange.

Spree has made 2 mistakes during his career. He choked a coach, which is terrible obviously, and he made a stupid comment about his contract situation. Other than that, please name other times he's been a cancer, please.

For those saying Spree would be a cancer, what would you say to a guy who blamed a losing season on everyone else but himself? Who wouldn't respond to a coach unless he called him by his nickname, who got that coach fired. Called out his teamates badly on national television and then quite the season early. Badmouthed an entire organization and then demanded a trade. All in one season might I add.

Would you call that guy a cancer?

The questions we all really care about is:

    1. can he guard Stackhouse, Jason Terry, Ginobli, etc

    2. can he hook Yao up with some Sprewell rims?

I agree. I think signing Spree just to sign someone is going to hurt our chances at upgrading the SG spot during the season or next summer. I'd rather see us wait and see who's availalbe at the deadline, or go ahead and let our contracts expire and maybe we can make a run at a free agent SG next summer.

That being said, I wouldn't mind Derek Anderson...but I view him as more of a backup to T-Mac at SF than a legit starting SG, which is what we need to upgrade eventually.

How is signing an upgrade to the SG spot (which Sprewell definitely is) going to "hurt our chances?" We will still be able to package our expirings and make a trade during the season if we want.

Even if we let all of our contracts expire, we will still not have enough cap space to make a run at a FA next year, no matter what RealGM says.

But Sprewell IS a legitimate starting SG. DA would make a good 2/3 backup, we agree on that, but Sprewell could make Wesley the backup SG and could also fill in some backup minutes at SF. That would allow us to concentrate our expiring contracts to get a starting PG.

Sprewell is not the be-all end-all for us and may not fully get us over the hump to the Finals, but he could be a really nice piece to start the season with.

Actually, IIRC, Horry, a former teammate @Bama had some untoward things to say toward Spree. Otherwise, I agree.

Even at his current age Spree is a sick athlete. He is lightning fast and can get into the lane at will. Would be a great addition, especially considering the pickup of Swift. Having him, T-Mac, Swift, and Mike James on the floor together would be one HELL of a fast break combination.

    The Truth has been spoken...

Face it guys, the biggest reason why nobody should be doubting this move is because of JVG. He personally coached him and has a very good relationship with Sprewell. JVG knows exactly what Sprewell is going to bring to the table and Sprewell knows what he has to bring under JVG. He's been calling the shots since he's been here, and look he hasn't messed up. So why not trust him on this one too? I don't see how anybody's analysis of Sprewell supercedes or would be more accurate than the man who runs this team and knows Latrell personally.

so i'd say he's done some things to hurt his team. he also broke his hand trying to punch someone and missed some time with the knicks i believe. that didn't help either.

What about him? JVG made a mistake thinking Ward could still play. The difference is that we know Spree can still produce. The Spree haters main argument is that he is a cancer, in which Wakkoman and myself are saying he really isn't. And even if he is, he has shown tons of respect for JVG and could get back on the right track under him.

That one season has followed him wherever he has went. You think he was clean as a whistle while in NY? That "feed my family" comment last season was just stupid and ridiculous. Who in their right mind would be mad making millions and complain that he can't feed his kids? That crap isn't needed on our team. We dealt with EG's crap and sent his ass packing.

Plus, with the way he wants the ball, you think he's going to be happy with T-Mac and Yao taking majority of the shots? You think he's going to accept what we can offer compared to what Detroit or Miami can? I rather have DA or Finley. I hope Spree signs with the Pistons so it would just save us all the trouble just talking about him.

Well, I sure hope TMac's antics 2 seasons ago don't follow him as well. But it's okay if it does, all that matters is that you move on. People make mistakes, period.

Boo hoo, so he made some dumb comments last season. You're right, that is the most ridiculous thing ever to happen. BAN HIM FOR LIFE!! Who in their right mind tells his coach to call him by his nickname during games?

People say dumb things. **** happens. But if you can add a player who can still produce for cheap and the only knock on him is something he did almost 10 years ago or something dumb he said, then you do it.

You're just contradicting yourself with everything you write. You say he won't accept the LLE or MLE, yet the 2 teams he has narrowed it down to only have that to offer.

You say he wants the ball and that he won't be happy with Yao/TMac taking majority of the shots. So why is he even considering us? Why is he even considering the Pistons, they don't even have a starting job for him.

Kinda funny how you're saying all these things he wants and the things he doesn't want, yet the teams he wants to go to is the exact opposite of the things you're saying. Interesting...

Look at guys like Rodman and Sheed. 2 of the baddest players to ever play the game. They made Spree look like an angel, yet they were added to championship caliber team and put them over the top.

Just the fact that not all ex-knicks who played under JVG would succeed here. Spree and Cassel pretty much killed Twolves last season. I dont want to see a bad seed spoils our party.

Sprewell has never been a cancer on the teams he has played on. He may complain about contracts but he never lets it effect his play on the court. A lot like Sam Cassell.
