What many of you fail to see is the intangibles that cassell brings to the team. Have you ever seen what the guy did on the bench or in the locker room. A true motivational speaker and really pumping his fellow teammates up. It was really hard for him to strive considering doc through him in there for a 5 minutes against the lakers and told him to chuck. The guy still has it in him, he still can post up, he still has a sick mid-range game and can spread the court well with a real center like yao. Besides all the big talk and motivation he spewed to his teammates, if you noticed, anytime one of the lakers shooters would go for the three in front of the celtic bench, he would clap trying to get them miss their shots, haha. I really think he would thrive in our system, and would love to bring him back home to nab one more championship for the big guy.
I doubt Morey brings Sam here for a 1 year rental. No other reason to bring the guy here, we don't dump any salary, he only plays on one side of the ball, when was the last time he played defense 2001? Sam's role at this point in his career is exactly what the Celts brought him in for, depth for a playoff and finals run. The roster is crowded enough without Sam and I prefer Brent Barry and Mo Evans over Sam.
I guess the 99ers are losing their memories because of age He was traded from Mini, and that was the year where both he and spreewell didn't like their contract extensions after they went to the western conference finals. For what ever reason nothing good ever happened to teams after he leaves. The Bucks sucked after they traded him for Joe Smith. After the entire contract fiasco Mini traded him AND a 1st rounder for Mr Ardiana Lima. And I think right after he signed a extension with the Clippers he changed his mind, they ended up having to do that because they couldn't trade him. You could even argue that Houston haven't gone back to the finals since he left. Maybe if we let him retire in a Rockets jersey it will finally break the cycle.
we need to pass on sam did u see him play with the celtics dude he hogs the ball too much and misses horribly horry no.. lost his touch from 3 brent barry yes... can shoot and make it consitently
We did get younger and more athletic. Did you see our draft? We are talking about filling out our roster with experienced playoff tested veterans and people are complaining. Amazing! Any one of Horry, Cassel or Barry would be an upgrade Hayes, Francis, Head and Novac so why not go after them and improve our bench with experience?
this is depressing me. Cassell - Horry - Charles Jones?? FFS!! 1993 called, they want their rumors back..
Wait...Hold on...you don't want Horry, but you want sam. I understand that it would be for the minimum so I wouldn't care, but Sam is done too. There is a reason why eddie house took his minutes.
if we don't get Granville Waiters, I'm gonna be upset. seriously, i don't really think any of these players helps us much.
Much love for cassell, but I don't think he was that key to the celtics run. He actually made very worried when he stepped out on the court in the celtics playoff run..
The Rockets are clearly looking to bring in championship veterans to help give this team an edge and get over the hump, which I agree with. People are going to complain that we need to get "younger and more athletic". No, we need to win NOW. Adding veteran players like Cassell and Barry goes a long way towards that.
do not ever underestimate a heart of champion.cassell is old but his heart is still young. His experinces will be gonna be useful for us in the next season,he will be gonna play a keyrole then.in the playoffs in particular.
he is beyond finished...he had zero to do with the celtics winning a championship this year...put a fork in cassell, hes done
I thought the same about Deke last year, but for me signing Cassell would be to help Aaron Brooks learn about the mid range game. DD
Oh no .. no Cassell please .. he was horrible in the playoffs against Lakers for Boston .. He used to be very good and he was still good with the Wolves, then he start going down with the Clippers .. and with Boston, he was just not good anymore. If we wanted him to teach Brooks, we should hire him as assistant coach and not take one of the roster spots.
