Don't worry about their play, bring in Horry, Barry, Posey and Cassell for good luck. They all have championship experience. Alston/Cassell/Brooks McGrady/Barry Battier/Posey Scola/Landry/Horry (4th quarter only) Yao/Mutumbo
we're not getting James Posey, that's one of these clutchfan fantasies where people forget stuff like james posey wants to get paid.
Agree. Agree. Agree. I love horry for what he did back in the day, but I don't see the value in bringing in a notoriously lackadaisical player who's at the end of his career. Sure, he's proven to be one of the best at hitting last-minute shots in big games, but I'd rather we focus on building a team that doesn't NEED last-minute shots to win.
I thought we were supposed to get younger and more athletic. I know this guys are experienced, but I dont think they could help the rockets out too much, with the exception of Barry. Remember what the lakers tried to do with Karl Malone and Gary Payton, it didn't exactly result in a championship and those were two players who are probadly future hall of famers.
I remember when I actually enjoyed Tinman's posts Now he rarely even talk about topic been discussed or try to make a rational case for his point of view any more. A Tinman phenomenon usually occurs like this. OP: We need to get younger, Horry and Cassell both looked old and did not perform well. Tinman: STFU NOOB, Horry and Cassell are Rockets Legends!!!! a billion youtube videos followed by BOLD RED LETTERS OP: What does that have to do with what the Rockets need right now? Tinman: NOOB, you don't know what you are talking about because your not a 99er like me!!!! Only 99ers can make rational cases!!!! Honestly Tinman, there are times where I dislike former Rockets greats just because you bring them up so much for no reason at all. Talk about how you think Rockets need veterans leadership, how they are better then the players we have now, talk about how it is actually realistic to sign them, talk about how it is only fitting that they end their careers at the place where it all started. I know I know, I didn't register with the forum 99er's build and 99 was the greatest year ever. Well the 99 rockets was a huge disappointment, a team filled with HOF players whose abilities where not there any more. Trying to relive a past that was too far gone, kind of like you Tinman. Oh btw even tho Vernon Maxwell had his best years as a Rocket, he was still a piece of trash as a human being, and I'll be damned if his jersey ever gets retired when Dream carried that piece of scum and the free weight he hit Herrera with to win those championship rings.
Yes to Barry Yes to Horry Yes to Cassell Yes, yes to all 3! That's after we get rid of Chuck, Brooks, Harris, Woods, Luther, and hopefully Rafer as well. I think its going to be like a domino effect. One of them signing will make another sign, and then the one thats left will also be attracted to sign as they see each other sign here.
I was aware of that...lets just say I've just upped the average experience of the Rockets by ten seasons.
Getting Cassell would be pretty good...as long as it takes minutes off Rafer...at least in the regular season. not to mention we will be getting rid of useless benchwarmers like Harris, Novak, Woods. I like these 3 but obviously we need more help than they can provide so we'll just trade them to somewhere where they can play more.
Cassell better 3pt shooter? NOOOOOOOOOOOO Cassell better with Adelman? NOOOOO Cassel better true pg? NOOOOOOO
Pretty much even? i disagree. BJ is quicker than cassell and just as good as a shooter. btw i miss your weekly inside the rockets updates
your basis is one playoff series where Sam played limited minutes with the 2nd squad in a new system. While Bobby Jackson gets lots of playing time since the injury to Rafer and playing under the same coach and same system he was in Sacremento. Great rookie analysis.
no wonder you are a rookie. 13 points in 8 minutes, including clutch 3 pointers and free throws in the 4th http://www.nba.com/games/20080506/CLEBOS/recap.html Sam Cassell made two free throws to tie it 72-72; James missed again, but this time Ilgauskas was there to tip it in and tie the game. Garnett moved across the lane to give Boston back the lead, 74-72 as Cleveland called a timeout with 22 seconds left. Oh, and in the regular season vs the Texas trio Rookies Rookies Rookies
I like how this always seem to be the way you respond to everything now days. And I am all for bringing back Sam, but since you made a great point about me been in 08 I can only post stuff like "do you think GS would trade Baron for Hayes and a 2nd rounder". You have been making the same arguments about Sam for far too long now. Sam was a star with the bucks, he was great with the Wolves, hell he even did well with the clippers, but you have to be kidding me if you think he can contribute in anything else besides veterans leadership, and playoff experience. The guy clearly has lost a step, its not just this season with the Celtics, he was breaking down after his first season with the Clips. Lets just hope he comes back to Houston and end it on a good note, would be a shame if he ends his career like Gary Payton. BTW I still remember when you thought that a line up with sam, steve, and cat would be unstoppable, and how he was on a championship team from way back. I guess somethings never change.
This is what I am talking about!!! I said that Jackson is a better fit for our team because he knows Adelman and his system. Also, Cassell had a mediocre playoff this year and except him to get worse because he will get old.
Well the Clippers did make it to the second round and almost beat the Suns that year. I didn't see the Vin Baker like decline of Steve Francis oh the Bucks thought Sam was in decline too, so they traded him for Marco Jaric.. at least Marco was player.. off the court
