I wouldn't say that. We all saw how Doc Rivers went with House instead of Cassell when Rondo got hurt and to back him up towards the later rounds. He protects the ball, looks to pass and shoots when he's open. He's far from a chucker, IMO.

Besides, Cassell is a great scorer not a great shooter. Given our limited resources with Landry sucking up half of the MLE and our focus on upgrading our 2/3 depth, I would love to have a cheap shooter like House coming off the bench as our 3rd PG. Wouldn't you?

It's actually kind of cool the way we're always mentioned pursuing the same free agents as Dallas, San Antonio, and Boston.

It seems like next year is going to be the same old.

If management is not bringing a top scorer, we should be better dismantling the team and build for the future. Bringing a whole bunch of old guys is not going to help.

I say we go for the all-Barry team: Rick, Scooter, Jon, Brent, and Drew Barry.

Why do people keep forgetting that the team was RIGHT THERE ...this last year.........and then lost Yao?

In fact, they probably would have been the number 1 seed in the entire Western Conference if Yao stayed healthy.

So, you don't retool a team that is a contender, you tweak it....

I think it would be a good move if we can unload Alston.

Cassell would be a good mentor for Brooks, IMO.

Maybe this is just an agent "leaking" news about his client's name to generate interest that otherwise wouldn't be there?

horry - overrateddddddddd... take your 6 rings (or 7) go home and enjoy your life

cassell - if you watch celtics playoffs games, he jacked up alot of shots without passing to his teammates.. he's a streaky shooter (another tmac alike)

Barry - offer 1.1 mil.. um.. thats acceptable offer.. so YES.. come take Novak's spot

Don't know if you noticed, we were the #1 seed in the hot hot hot WC last year prior to injuries.

We have an "already very talented roster".

Our problem is our #1 and #2 guys are injury prone. If they stay healthy this season ...I like our chances A LOT.

But I know what you are gonna say, old guys are usually injury prone too. But that is mostly irrelevant cause they aren't the #1/2 guys anyway. You gotta have your big guns healthy to make a legit run at the title.

Anyone who thinks Sam was bad because of the Celtics run
    knows NOTHING ABOUT NBA Basketball

    1. you didn't watch the entire playoffs - Sam has his moments when he gets his minutes (cleveland, LA, even atlanta)

    2. you think he's a chucker? hello. ask the coach. This is Doc River's version of Sam Cassell, not George Karl's , Rudy T's or Saunders or Dunleavy's.
Doc is telling Sam to chuck it up. When Sam is in the game, he's not there with KG or Ray Allen or Pierce usually.

    3. you forgot about the rest of his stellar career, you mean to tell me that you think Brooks or Rafer is a better choice in the playoffs when you want someone to hit an open jumper?

    4. Yao Ming - A real POST player. When Sam gets in the game, he's without Brand, Dream, KG, give him a real post player like Yao, and watch Sam excel.

    5. Sam can post up people , none of our PGs can do that. I guess you idiots don't remember Farmar and your precious Derek Fisher getting schooled forcing Phil to put KOBE on Sam right? haters haters haters

    6. Rick Adelman, look at Rafer with JVG look at Rafer with Rick. Look at Cassell with any other coach besides Rivers. Now imagine Rafer with that Celtics SECOND UNIT. Ok. class dismissed.

We played WAY over our heads during that stretch. Don't forget that we were barely over .500 mid-way through January. And I think we can both agree that the odds of our guys being healthy enough to contend all year are not very good (since it's never happened). I'd rather not put any faith in guys clearly on the backside of their career. We have too many other needs at this point.

Sam is a career 45% shooter. I don't know that stat for mid range but its higher than that.

he was shooting 45.5% with the Clips, then when he got to the Celtics, he went down to 38.5%

let's not forget the CLUTCH FREE THROW SHOOTING. career 86% shooter

Look at all the pgs that we have:
    Alston, Jackson, Brooks, Francis.

We have 4 pg s and I dont except Cassell to be in the rotation.
It would be a waste of money to sign him.

Ummm, we were never the #1 seed until AFTER the injuries. If, if, if. Sorry but that is way too big an IF. And you are dead wrong about the old guys being irrelevant for the simple fact that our 1/2 have NEVER been healthy. The chances of the old guys having to play 30+ minutes a game for 15-20 games of the season are greater than 1/2 being healthy. That could change, but we're getting back to IF's again.

we have 2 PGs Brooks and Alston.

have you been watching the Rockets? those other two aren't PGs.
    Bobby Jackson sucks.
Steve Francis, we haven't even seen him play much.
