He also couldn't seem to win games without Vince Young Fisher is and always has been a very mediocre coach who doesn't always get the best out of his players
He hasn't had a QB that was worth a damn since 2003....managing to stay "mediocre" with sub-par talent is pretty good.
Then Fisher should've evaluated & drafted a QB. No excuses. Jeff Fisher as a head coach is still living off of a Super Bowl run that is almost 15 years old.
He had Vince Young forced on him, remember? That was a Bud Adams move, Fisher had no choice in the matter. When you have awful draft busts forced on head coaches, bad things happen.
C'mon Vince did have some success with the Titans before washing out. Fisher's best years were with McNair & VY. Was McNair forced on him too? But again...... What else has Fisher done in 15 years? He's been mediocre at best.
The Titans managed to have some success despite VY being at QB and I credit Fisher for that. It would be like if the Chargers managed to win some games with Ryan Leaf back there. Also, just because VY and McNair are both black doesn't mean you can compare them. McNair was a fairly good QB, VY was garbage.
Case was in a no win situation last year (literally). I still can't get over his first few games. He flashed some series skills then the bottom fell out. That "flash" is likely why he is in St..Louis right now. Fisher saw something that he liked. So did I, but the team meltdown and Kubiak's incompetence were factors. It was clear that Case was not OBrien's "guy." Obviously, OBrien was not going to tweak the system for Keenum, therefore he continued to look uncomfortable though out preseason. I still think he might make it given the right situation. No doubt this is likely his last chance.
Huh? Who brought race into it? They both played for Fisher. ( BTW, VY was better than Leaf & even made a Pro Bowl before washing out.) You still haven't told what has Fisher done in 15 years. Same goes for a guy like Marvin Lewis, these guys have had more than a fair opportunity to win big. They are middle of the road head coaches who are lucky to still be employed as such.
One was a good QB, one was a total and complete bust. As to what FIsher has done in 15 years, I think managing to pull off multiple double digit win seasons with Ryan Leaf at QB is pretty impressive.
Ryan Leaf, VY, Y-V, or Leaf Ryan whatever. The guy is living off a season that's a decade and a half old. Fisher is mediocre as a head coach, GET OVER IT.
Still pretty impressive that he managed to do that with so little talent on the team, also, the Rams were the worst team in the league till Fisher took them over, they aren't great, but they are much improved even with their bad luck when it comes to their franchise QB.
Do recall who he wanted instead??????????? LEINART!!! Who had the better career . . VY or Leinart? Rocket River
Very Mediocre He inherited McNair and an ASS LOAD of talent he squandered it . . . .. and never been much else since Rocket River
They were both draft busts, it's like comparing Ryan Leaf to Akili Smith. They were both awful, Fisher somehow managed to cope with Vince Young's awfulness for a while tough.
