I like what i see. He's pretty mobile but his arm strength is questionable. Some of his short passes seems to take forever to get to the receiver which can be easily pick off in NFL

This is true, I wasn't around....but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a lot of people (even non-UT fans) between 06 and 07 that didn't think that VY to the Texans made a lot of sense. And it's not like winning the ROY (deservedly or not) helped that cause.

Oh yeah and then when he single-handedly beat the Texans in a 4th quarter comeback soon after....that didn't help.

I don't get your point. I never once said that there weren't irrational fans out there. I'm sure a lot of inane things about VY have been proposed by homers. But if you can read exactly what I wrote, without rolling your eyes as a reflex, I think anyone would have to agree. It's not to be unexpected when things played out the way they did....it isn't a UT fan issue. It is a fan issue in general....always overvaluing and wishing for your hometown guy to pull through.

How many other players from UT do you see being overhyped on these boards? If it was a constant thing, then it would be UT issue.

I personally believe we are pretty level-headed when it comes to our athletes....but the VY thing (winning the championship the way it happened, winning the ROY, beating the Texans in the 4th quarter) while watching the Texans just roll around in ineptitude was like a perfect storm. Fandemonium took over....

    Where the Coogs at?

Keenum will be a superstar, mark my words.

If he doesn't, then unmark my words.

The Coogs are all here. We're just sitting back and enjoying the show.

Kubiak is the best QB coach in the NFL. He's going to coach Case up and he'll get his chance eventually. Maybe not in Houston, but someone will want him under center. He did it when no one respected him out of high school and I have faith he can do it again. I'm really happy for him.

    Good situation for him.
And he gets to spend a little more time on home turf, even if it's just holding a clipboard.
And if he ends up starting, a la Yates, we'll be in deep doody by then anyway.
At least he and T.J aren't as fragile as Leinart

Kubiak being quoted in the Chronicle as saying, "That was the first call I made," means a lot. If Kubiak sees the potential, that's significant.

I was pulling for Houston to use one of their last draft choices on him, but a free agent deal is obviously even better. Keenum was going to get the opportunity to play somewhere, and I'm glad it's here.

I just don't see Keenum beating out Yates for the number 2 spot let alone be a capable starter in the future. If he happens to pull it off and prove me wrong so be it, as long as he helps us win games I'll gladly eat crow.

Great local story drafting Bullock and signing Keenum (and no, I'm neither an Aggie or a Coog). Looking at that highlight package, I don't think there's any way Schaub makes the move at the goal line that Keenum does at the 1:25 mark of the video you posted.

Not sure if he'll ever be more than the next B.J. Symons or Alex Brink, but it's a good story to keep track of to be sure.

    Go Texans!

Not that I think Keenum is going to be solid...but regarding arm strength, we should all know that its not as important as some are making it to be...Schaub has never lasered a ball into tight coverage, as the overwhelming majority of his passes have to do more with accuracy and touch, than zing. Thats a reason I wanted either Russell Wilson via the draft or Kellen Moore via UDFA...accuracy is the key in our offense.

well there's no way that will happen (this year, at least). the only way he makes the game day roster is if we carry 3 qbs.

He definitely doesn't have the zip in his throw but our offense doesn't rely much on go routes/vertical routes. Two things he has is great accuracy and great decision making. Let's see if this translates to the next level. I'm not saying he will stick, but this is his chance to make it happen.
