It's just amazing to me how skilled he already is. It's going to be fun to watch him gain strength and experience.
Next two games will be a good test for Sengun. How well he plays tonight and then how he adjusts based on his first experience with Lebron and AD will be fun to watch. Go Alpi!
That's if Silas lets him play enough to get into a rhythm. He should be playing just as many minutes as Green, in my opinion.
They should give Garuba a shot a Lebron even if only to give him 6 hard files. Segun would be our best defender against AD if he go the minutes, but would probably foul out. You might could save Segun by only playing him when AD is in the game, but Silas won’t do any of this. I expect Segun to play about 18/20 min a game throughout this road trip.
Sengun's defense has blown my mind. There is no doubt that he deserves starter minutes if not an outright starter's spot. He will have the occasional bad game, but even vets have those. Just start this kid Silas.
Agreed. Garuba needs more minutes than Theis. Theis does absolutely nothing for Rockets. Does not help team win OR develop young players.
I've seen that but I think what happens is when a player loses a few 1 or 2 point games, their reaction tells you how badly they want to win. The ones who seem insane about winning quickly learn to never take a point for granted. I have a feeling he will conquer it. Same solution to all those shots and we spoke about it a lot at the beginning of Yao's career: if you can dunk it, dunk it.
he needs to be the main ball handler on this team...(I.D.I.O.T.) everyone else is almost clueless what to do with it most of the time and all they can do is a bunch of fancy dribbles leading to nowhere...and his handles are good enough for it to happen...
One of the best things about Sengun is that I don't have to get worked up over the shoulda-picked-Mobley bedwetters. At #16, we snagged a 19-year-old big who's 1) basically NBA-ready and 2) almost uniquely creative at his position. That was far from guaranteed when we picked at #2. But I'm fine with the combination of one pretty sure thing in Sengun, and one super-high-upside gamble in Green.
Silas, just let him play. Let him make mistakes. He needs 30+ minutes a night. Stop the charade. Even when making silly, nervous rookie mistakes, he is WAYYYYY better than Theis, clearly. This will also help to unlock C-Wood and give KPJ some playmaking help.
I think Silas should disregard Sengun's fouls. It makes no sense to take him out of games after he get's his 3rd foul in the first half, or 4th foul in the fourth quarter. Sure, if we were playoff bound that would be the smart thing, but against the Lakers, when we may win 15 games this year, you're not saving any games. Give the man minutes, let him develop.
He does all the little things that matter in a game. As soon as he gets on the floor, we play better. His one on one defense is meh, but his help defense and quick hands make him a good help defender even this early. He does all the things we were told Theis would do, but doesn't. Plus he has good chemistry with Wood. He needs to start as soon as possible.
Silas needs Sengun to play at least 25 minutes a game, Martin needs to start and keep Augustine on the bench and give Christopher or Brooks more minutes. I like Christopher as our backup PG.
