It's true. Like 30-40 pounds was what I read someplace. Find it hard to believe looking at him, but he's got real lower body size, and strength there that will improve a great deal. Perhaps that's where much of it was. His upper body needs some work, but I don't doubt that he'll get there. I've said it before, but have to say it again. We were tremendously lucky to get him. Still can hardly believe it.
That's nuts. Great feel for the game + work ethic. I can't believe it either, especially when OKC seems to have appropriately identified the talent of Giddy who is another overseas player. Sengun >>> Poku.
I think he has the potential to be really good down there though. His measurables are pretty close to Sabonis, who also struggled a bit early. Once Domas figured out how to finish strong he could finally take advantage of all his moves. I’m confident Sengun will get there too, sooner rather than later
I mean he did that with Olynyk last year so unless Silas had a brain injury we don't know about I'm pretty sure this will come in time.
Sengun continuing to get underrated on the board. Against the DPOY and Hassan Whiteside and the defensively excellent Jazz, he forced a good game. He missed 3 shots that he would rarely ever miss, with better fitness and experience he’ll learn to dunk the dunkable shots. Otherwise a tremendous game for a 19 year old. His 3pt shot needs major repetition and polish, but other than that he’s a couple of seasons away from being an offensive nightmare for other teams. We were always missing an interior or high post creator to double our angles on offense all those years against the warriors. Paul was able to fill that gap for half a season and we almost toppled the most talented team ever. I think Sengun is destined to do it, the guards are struggling with the offense and need time to learn to create optimally. They waste so much time, energy and motion. Jalen has reduced that, Porter hasn’t. They should give Alpi some of the load. He’s going to make it a very easy decision for coach, when he understands our offensive system and players better his passing will take off automatically.
Love your post but about the bolded part specifically, I'm actually a little worried because this has been happening consistently. These aren't shots he would rarely ever miss, he misses shots these shots every single game that would be 99% shots for most other players. The good news is he has great positioning, footwork, and moves that allow him to get into spots where he has wide open layups over and over, but it's slightly worrisome that he misses them with such consistency. That being said, its only 5 games, and it's his first 5 games in the NBA. If he made every easy shot he'd be at like 75% fg right now.
These are shots he would rarely miss. We have a full season sample of him in the Turkish league where he was an elite finisher and post player, one of the highest scoring efficiency in the entire league. This is not a guy that can’t make a layup. What’s happening is that he is getting used to the length and athleticism of the nba, and is second guessing himself. It’s not so much that the nba length is bothering his shots, because the shots we are talking about where he would rarely miss are mostly open, he’s just thinking too much. Once he’s not worried about getting blocked every time he shoots he will be much more aggressive on offense and convert more as well.
this is why i dont like that hes working on his 3 pt shot he lost focus on his bread and butter perhaps its better he first established himself in nba then he can add 3pt shot in cuople of years...
