Only 2 games, blah blah blah...

Among actual rookies in summer league, #4 in assists.

When you mix in the vets like Peyton Prichard and Quickley, hes much further down the list, and the "its only 2 games" mega-caveat. But nevertheless shows the potential as an ok distributor.

His 3 point shot is his 3 point shot, and he seems to get "into it" without planning how to get out, but "the bones are good" as they say with a good fixer-uper house.

I slowed mo'd the slow mo and I think he may have went up and down. It's really too close to tell either way. Ball looks like it could be just barely on his fingertips once toes just barely touch the floor and not his heel.

I called it days after we drafted him, we/he are going to discover he's going to be a point guard though it will take a year or two to tighten his handle and learn the details of the offense. His game needs polish but he's already close to being good at transition, open 3's and defense. He's got good athleticism and understanding of the game (NBA family).

As long he he keeps working off the court, he has a really good future.

I was legit worried about his tunnel vision after the first game but he played a much more composed 2nd game and really showed he can be a fearless and effective defender. His offensive game is still a work in progress but I have hope for him. I don’t see the EGo comparisons - Gordon was a great offensive player relatively early on. Instead I’m getting a bit more JR Smith and Lance Stephenson vibes from him - guys who have that unique ability to win a game for you AND also lose it for you-but hey, if the kid can be more disciplined, he can avoid the downside of those guys. Holiday is in play for him as a ceiling but I think his floor right now is very similar to the streakiest versions of JR Smith - who was a valuable player in the right situations.

what was that remark about 90% of the misses goes in the middle?

I believe he is saying 90% of shot misses will bounce off somewhere in the middle, so as long as you run towards the middle the moment the opposing team takes a shot, you'll likely secure the rebound.

A quick lookup on this online, and you can find an article by grantland on it from a while ago. The analysis then suggests 80% of rebounds happen within 8 feet of the hoop.

Looks like Josh Christopher pays attention in class.

Yeah, that’s one of the bs NBA calls that Fiba won’t make, which only slows down the game and erases a fastbreak.

Cade got saved from embarrassment of a strip and fastbreak dunk though.

You shouldn’t be allowed to stop a fastbreak like that. That’s a bad NBA take foul that Fiba would have ignored.

He seems like he has potential to be a solid NBA rotational player.

    Notes from 1st 4 games:

    Pros:
    - Already above average defender, with potential to become elite
    - Extremely active and vocal on both offense and defense
    - NBA level mid range game
    - Ability to break down defenses

    Cons:
    - Poor shot selection and did not shoot well from 3
    - Tunnel vision where he missed several open teammates multiple times
    - Unable to capitalize after getting past initial defender or when in the paint
    - Inability to recognize trailing defenders

Overall I think this is what we expected from him (maybe a little better from 3). I see many people complaining about his poor shot selection and tunnel vision. However, some of this may be the game plan. You want JC to put up shots and see what he can do in Summer League. When he plays in Training camp (and possibly G League), he may be expected to work on his role for our team. I never expected him to be Jrue Holiday and always thought he was more like Gordon or Smart. It may be better potentially to work him in as a wing instead of PG.
