I can't name 5 teams Rafer can start for. I can't name 1 playoff team in the west he can start for which is a testament in itself. Rafer is a 15min a night guy. Chuck is a situational guy. Battier is a 20min a night guy. Rafer hinders this team more than he helps as far as creating easy buckets. He pushes it up, then gives it to tracy. He goes to th basket, but can't finish. He shoots more 3's than almost anyone in the league, yet isn't a good shooter. More holes than swiss cheese, yet people defend him like this team can't win without him. Well, we see how that's going.
Damn, this board is completely split at 193-188. After Brooks' play tonight against New Jersey, I'm going to have to go with him as the starter. I have this eerie feeling Rafer is going to ruin the chemistry and we will lose to Cleveland. Of course, this isn't going to happen.
Cleveland will be Brooks first real test. I don't know if it is definite that Rafer plays tomorrow, but I hope he doesn't. I want to see how Brooks will run this offense against a high-caliber team.
So do we hate Rafer because he isn't starting material, or because Brooks is too good to be his back up?
Rafer leads all the way since the poll. Interestingly, with my signature and efforts of DD, poll was up to 105:104. With tonight's game, poll is back to 195:194. But when brooks is to lead?
CASE CLOSED !!! The team is better with Aaron Brooks at the point. PERIOD !! And ....4 bounce passes to Yao tonight by Brooks....NO TURNOVERS. DD
Come on, only Stevie Wonder can't see that we are better off with a scoring point guard (ala Mike Bibby) is the key to this offense. Brooks has played really well against two of the top point guards (Billups and Harris). I think Harris maybe played 7 minutes in the 2nd half. BIGGEST DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BROOKS AND RAFER. * BROOKS SCORES CONSISTENTLY (Finishes and hits the 3) * PUTS PRESSURE ON OTHER PG'S TO PLAY D, WHICH SLOWS THEM DOWN ON OFFENSE Basketball is really simple.
Brooks opens things up for everyone on offense because of his outside shooting, while Rafer.....I dont really need to go there. Not only should Brooks start but he should get 3/4th minutes at the PG, while Rafer only 1/4th. The more minutes Rafer steals from Brooks, the slower Brooks development will be. Let Brooks play as many minutes as possible right now, so that he can learn from his mistakes.
If Rafer is back tomorrow night, he'll surely start. Hopefully it doesn't take long for Adelman to make the change though.
I think Bill Worrell said tonight that Rafer will come off the bench with Artest when he comes back. DD
Oh wow, didn't get to hear that (LeaguePass Broadband had the Nets network). This is great news. We've seen Adelman make good adjustments before, so hopefully this sticks.
I was really impressed with Brooks tonight. I believe there was one turnover on a bounce pass from Brooks to Yao though, I think it was in the third quarter (Yao was near the free throw line).
