Fine, then you definitely have different 'standards' and values by which you live. To each his own, something that offends me might not offend you.
thats your policy, and I have mine. If im walking down the street, i dont pummel someone coz I feel like it. That would land me in jail and the psych ward. Now if somone came upto me while im with my family and starts harrasing me, Id be more inclined to beat the crap out of em. A la my trip to NYC, but still I realized ignoring those type of ignorant people is the best way to go.
Hey Welcome back! Agree with what you said, I take an issue with those who're threatening violence, they do even more damage to the religion than any non-Muslim can; I believe the great Ayatollah Sistani in Iraq correctly addressed this point in that article hotballa linked.
Yep, but I have promised not to post things to wind people up. Thus, only real debate....sigh. Back on topic. I do kind of see where the Danish, French, and Germans etc would decide to draw the line, this could cause a massive backlash against Muslims in those countries as people generally like to live and let live, as long as they feel they are not being infringed upon. If the Muslim people do not like the cartoons, they can simply not read the newspaper etc.... I hope none of the governments apologize for any of the newspapers, the day we are not allowed to poke fun at ourselves and our religions etc, is a VERY sad day indeed. DD
i don't know that i've ever participated in a protest/march for anything. particulary not one that was newsworthy. that doesn't mean i don't feel strongly about anything.
i'll be taking to the streets with arms. my son will be donning his VY Longhorns jersey...i'm thinking we have him hold up some sort of sign that says, "thanks for breaking my heart, Texans."
Great Idea....I have 2 sons...both cute....we need to exploit them as much as possible !! Got to get Vince by any means necessary. DD
look at you....mixing Muslim, Malcom X, in with the VY debate INSIDE a debate regarding Islam. a proud moment, indeed.
don't know anything about your trip to ny but it is certainly not my policy to go around getting in fights. my point was just that you muslims have thin skin when it comes to insults. very, very thin skins.
Me too. I'm not the protesting type. But i do see christians peacefully marching against war, the death penalty etc. And one thing I would at probably march for (or at least be very vocal about) would be against those hijacking my religion, causing it hated world wide. I would really feel a need to send a different message. But is it really a great generalization when it's all you really see? Do most Muslims agreee with the cartoon protests?
Wouldn't it be easier to take the Muslim objections more seriously if they had shown outrage about how the Arab press portrays Jews?
again you generalize. Something that is very touchy for some muslims may not be for you. I dont think its that hard of a concept to grasp.
when did i generalize the first time? "you" muslims meaning you, tiger and azadre. and yes, it's a very hard concept for me to grasp. please bear with me, why do insults bother you so much?
