    What is best in life?

To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.

    Sincerely, Conan the Barbarian

    That's why you're not a statesman/diplomat. That's the perfect recipe for self-destructive behavior.

In the real world, there are a lot more variables to consider, and strategy is formulated based on case-by-case analysis.

basso is such a bad ass. Once again he shows us that he is a warrior. More than willing to fight to the death.......As long as someone else does the dying.

That's a silly philosophy. It sounds cool if it were in a video game though.

Israel made peace with Egypt, and Egypt made peace with Israel. Neither one crushed the other. It's been going pretty well.

Your statement was absolute, all I am saying is that you don't always seek to "destroy" your enemy, for any multitude of reasons. There is a lot more to consider than just your 'desire' to kill/maim your enemy. It's never as easy as you make it out to be in your theoretical world.

    I'm familiar with those.

Israel didn't crush Egypt. They were able to take what they wanted, but it isn't as if Egypt was crushed in either of those conflicts.

So, hows that been going since VJ day?

The only defeat you can inflict on indigenous peoples is extermination or a complete paradigm shift within their culture. Anything else is just a delaying action.

I'm all for changing hearts and minds to a democratic socialist ideal but that usually means you can't kill a lot of the population. So, you negotiate.
