So, just found out my '07 Camry is basically a riding disaster waiting to implode as the tranny is f**ked. It's a ticking time bomb and I can't rely on it at this point. It lasted 10 years and 150k miles.

Anybody been car shopping recently? What's looking good for '15 - '16 models in the 4 door sedans category? Obviously, there is the Camry versus Accord everlasting debate about which is better. I know Honda did some changes to the '16 models. I doubt I want to buy another Camry at this point just for the sake of change. The V-6 Accord might be a consideration...but not sure.

Anyway, my ceiling is probably $30k...$35k at the most probably...so that is limiting. If I had my way, then I would be buying that Porsche Panamera right about now but it's about $40k out of my price range. Not sure I can get the power I want from a sedan with a 4 cylinder. I like my acceleration power.

Anybody been car shopping lately? Any opinions?

For 30-35 you can get some pretty bad ass 4 door used cars.. I've been looking in the 25-30k range and there's some really nice 15's out there with very low mileage.

Hyundai Elantra's are pretty good, even the limited editions usually go for less than $25,000.

Looks like everyone has missed the obvious answer, so I guess I'll be the first to say it:

Get a Tesla, and start investing or being an Uber driver to pay for the difference.

Lexus IS models? I'll take a look. Yea...I'd rather not buy new at this point.

I'd look at getting a 2015 Hyundai Genesis for that price range

Rough it out for 2 more years and get the Tesla Model 3. Acceleration power on that is going to be competitive to anything in that price range and higher. It looks tight..IMO. And no gas!

You can find used Cadilac XTS with low mileage near the high end of your range. The XTS is an EXTREMELY nice car.

Well, good for the tranny. I think your shame is probably normal, albeit unnecessary as we should all enjoy whatever it is we enjoy. Certainly not worth selling your car. Just my two cents.

Only looking at Sedans? What about a Subaru Outback or even the Subaru Crosstrek.

So, your recommendation is a Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 4-Door Coupe?

Have you ever driven one? I can't believe those things start at $32k.

My concerns are: It's German...meaning expensive as hell to fix if it breaks.

BMW and Audi are likely out...because of reliability issues...least reliable out of the three German brands from what I'm reading.

For similar reasoning, it's why I'm leaning toward Lexus as tend to be reliable. Plus, I can't sell myself buying a German luxury car to my Dad. I would never hear the end of it...even if I am paying for it. lol

The Clutch BBS ad machine is telling me to buy Jeep. Holy mother of hell!
