don't forget - Mo T has proven in the past that he can play - he just needs some mins and some shots

if anything THEY should have given up the draft pick and PJ to us

it should be mentioned that john repeated Steve Francis's comments about how JVG NEVER used to practice fast breaks, and if that is ture........CD did NOT answer it directly, saying that fast breaking is the 2nd hardest thing to coach besides defense, and how many teams suck at it, and how JVG tells them to run during the game.......but he NEVER said that it was a false statement or that JVG does indeed practice fast breaking............

Just a point that is important I think, cause unless you actually practice it, you will not become better at it.......and Francis is actually right in this regard. The only reason our fast break is better now is cause we have veterans who know how to run one now, like Sura, Wesley etc (but seems like he never really tried to install it under Steve and CAt) but even now it is still nothing spectacular. I see JVG telling the players to push the ball all the time, but if you dont practice it, it aint just gonna happen on the court...........

Unless Mo starts becoming a poison weed (which could be already happening with him moving to the IL for a flu bug...) then you might have to just give both a change of scenary...But for both straight up, no draft picks.

Problem is Steve, not as much Cat, thinks shoot/drive first, which makes for a 1 on x fast break and the crazy shot in the lane that we all loved ;)

I would not be adverse to doing it straight up.

Mo hasnt been as money as he normally is lately...and PJ definitely is the better defender and rebounder.

but as you can tell....NO wasnt interested in that.

Maybe it means he is healed. So if one is sick so he cannot get better anymore? Anyway he was put on the injured list as a result of the flu (an airbone contageous disease) and he should be eligible to come off the IL tomorrow (Friday) and Spoon will (should) promptly be put back on the IL.

Mind you Wagner (Cleveland Cavaliers) was put on the IL as a result of influenza as well since early January or thereabout and I am not even sure if he is off it now. Go figure. But Doc Rocket did say that Motay and JVG had a "public" verbal disagreement recently though so I am not sure what to make of that.

Juwan lit up Dallas for 29 points and a handful of rebounds. Myabe they should trade for him as well right?

Intertesting how Wagner has also been rumored in constant trade talks the past few seasons. He wasn't getting any PT anyways, so the IR makes sense but... Maybe a close or potential deal just fell through for them???

I may be in the minority, but I don't mind giving up a mid first round pick for PJ....

He keeps himself in excellent shape, and would provide a good professional perspective for Yao.

If it takes Mo T + 1st for PJ, I would seriously consider it.

Hell we gave up a first to Utah just to take Glen Rice off our hands.

This would actually make us better.

Exactly DD, you have to have your best poker face going into the trade deadline. I don't see PJ Brown staying with NO. There is still a chance the rockets could end up with him without giving up a 1st rounder.

well...if thats the case...we better hope that their recent 4 game home streak was a fluke....cause if they actually play as hard as they did against us...and start winning some games...they might not be so inclined to make more moves.

I would not mind sending a pick with Mo for PJ...but Im still not sure I would want to send anything better than a second rounder or two.

if you send a YOUNGER player with better offensive game AND a pick for a older player you'd better be getting

    1) a former all star and/or
    2) cap relief

    PJ is neither -

that deal is insulting - as I said before THEY should be giving Houston the draft picks to take PJ off their hands (since they want to get younger and the contract are equal)

and as for trading Uath to take Glen Rice - remember that Glen Rice was here b/c of the Shandon Anderson fiasco -

Mo T can still play in this league, so you can't pay someone to take him off your hands

well...Think about what I posted for a second and think about what each player brings to the table.

and then think about how rare it is to find a good contibutor with your second round pick.....especially a mid to late second that we are likely to have for the near future

I would be willing to give up a second rounder or two + MoT to acquire a player who not only can hit his shots from around the paint...but is known as a good strong rebounder...

Sure...Mo is known for having a damn good shot from out to almost the 3 line...but his lack of defense and rebounding is something that hurts us on more nights than his shot helps us.

Besides....I would hope that the Rockets would continue tryin to acquire a younger PF in the future and use PJ as a backup until he is no longer of any use.....as was mentioned earlier....he is one of those guys that keeps himself in damn good shape and should be able to produce similar to Deke for a few more years easily.

If you dont agree...fine..I understand...but I just think that considering we have similar skillsets in JHo and Mo....PJ would be a good addition to our squad to stopgap until Swift or a similar young 4 can be found.

I agree with not trading PJ Brown for Mo Taylor and a first rounder. I also wouldn't trade Mo for PJ straight up. Mo will be in the LAST year of his contract next year, not two years from now. The more time passes, the more appealing Mo will be. His 8+ million will be coming off the cap and that is very appealing to all teams. I don't know where people came up with 3 years remaining on his contract. I guess some forgot that he sat out an entire season due to an achilles injury. He signed a six year 48 million dollar deal in 2000.

I HATE to break it to you but MoT still has 2 year remaining on his contract just like PJ Brown...

& its not 3 years remaining its 2 years. I think their just counting this season as a year.

His contract still has 2 years remaining on it after THIS season. He'll make $9.1 million next year and $9.7 in his last year.

PJ Brown is getting paid exactly $8 mil. this season as well as the next two.

Taylor's contract has the same length and starts at $8.45 mil, jumps to $9.1 mil next season, and $9.75 the season after that.

Those that say three years are counting this season.

MoT + 1st rd pick for PJ is not bad, depending on next yr draft.

For strong draft year, it might be advantageous to hang on to a 15-17th pick. In other yr, maybe not.

MoT might be younger but I thought we don't even want him now, why would we (or anyone else) want him 3+ yrs from now?
