    it's a better football team.

i would think this was obvious, but last year was capers' 4th; four years to find his players, install his system, and get results. this is kubiak's 1st; he hasn't had time to find his players, install his system or clean up capers' mess. but sure, let's go ahead and measure his progress against capers' - seems fair.

frankly, i've seen more positives the past two weeks than i did in the final two years under capers.

this is the type of **** i'm talking about that needs to be called out and addressed; i'd be an enabler if i allowed such ridiculously uninformed opinions to go uncontested.

capers was part of the problem. firing him was 100% the right thing to do. not an ounce of good would have come from keeping him. not one. THEY WERE THE WORST TEAM IN FOOTBALL. they had the least amount of talent in football (the DC con man's fault), and what talent they did have regressed terribly (capers' fault).

it was a mess of a franchise. keeping anyone from the previous regime would have been a mistake, let alone the masterminds behind it.

kubiak is going to be OK; i suggest giving him more than 8 quarters before pulling the sheet over his regime.

and after he was successful in the first few years in Carolina, the NFL changed the rules for expansion teams.

I think it's pretty obvious the combo of Capers/Casserly was a serious problem. How many possessions were run/run/pass/punt under Capers? He didn't understand how to run an offense and the defense he built was one of the worst in the league.

And even if Kubiak fails I would still think it was a good decision to fire Capers. I would rather see the team fail while trying something new to get better than to watch them fail the same way they had the previous 4 years.

oh yes they do. those were the years the DC con man and his merry band of idiots drove this franchise into the abyss.

look, of course the raiders are the worst team in football. at the same time, fans need to be reminded that, record-wise, no one has been worse for a longer stretch than the texans. hopefully, it'll provide some perspective (and thus, patience) as kubiak rebuilds this thing.

i liken him to a coach taking over an awful program that then gets slapped with restrictive ncaa sanctions the day after he's hired. he has to clean up a mess and try to move forward; it ain't gonna be easy.

so everyone needs to be acutely aware of how bad we've been.

What's your take on Gado? He looks like he's a monster just waiting to break out. Could he potentially be the link that helps bring balance and continuity to our offense? If so, how much?

did you mean adrian peterson next april?

no, i don't think gado does much of anything. we have the worst collection of running backs in football.

or, they've put themselves in position to get out from under his contract. once healed, davis can sign with another team next year and the texans shoulder only his '06 salary/signing bonus obligation.

plus, why would you waste a spot on your roster with a guy who's been cleared to play, but won't?

Hilarious! Look I love seeing David's proficiency rating improve, but he will get no recognition and no love in H-Town so long as the end result still translates to an "L" instead of a "W".

Questions still remain if he has leadership capabilities to lead this team ultimately to the playoffs. Still too many "three and outs" and unproductive drives and dumb penalties and too many mistakes. Carr has to become the leader of this football team, he must hold both sides to accountability. Demand better, improved and competitive play. So, does he have the teams respect?

Maybe that is unfair, but the QB is the buffer, the one who gets villified when things are bad and the one who gets glorified when things are good. That's why he's paid the "big bucks."

He's the leader of the Texans, he needs to start dressing the part.
