Someone post Henry's avg ypc a game before and after VY started. Keep in mind, two of VY's losses were by one point. Bennett is a nice player (who dropped a gimme early on), but he's not Andre Johnson and I think Moulds is better. I can't believe there are still people trying to discredit VY. Why don't one of you say "I don't think VY can be an effective runner in the nfl."
My brother ran into Chester Pitts tonight at a Hooters after the 610 show. He asked Chester it if made him mad that Carr didn't get angry after losing a game and gives pathetic post-game speeches. Chester said yeah, it pisses the whole team off. THEN, get this- Chester looks at my brother and says, "you know who else is like that? Mario Williams." Then went on to say that Carr dosen't care about winning because he is from california and is just here for the job. Same with Mario pretty much. I was very shocked to hear that one of our starting guards would say this!!
Cool. Nice find. b*stard didn't want the ball. Not sure what Carr meant re: Kubiak "doesn't care about my opinion." Probably just a lame attempt at self-deprecating humor. Anyway, I think Kubiak definitely made the right decision in that situation. When your QB basicly says he doesn't want the ball, the prudent thing to do is to take a knee. On principle, though, if I had faith in my QB (obviously someone other than DC) in a similar situation, I would've tried to win the game - provided my QB wanted the ball . With 53 seconds left - even with no timeouts - even backed up on your own 7 yrd line - you still hold the position of strength. You still have the ball. You still have control over the outcome, and you have a higher chance of winning the game than your opponent. You clearly have the advantage. Your opponent faces sudden death if you succeed. The only ways to lose that advantage are 1) you make a mistake (unintentional), 2) you take a knee (intentional), or 3) you run out of time and it's tied. Is your fear of making a mistake more important than having control over your own destiny? You know how David Carr would answer that question. Do you really think Peyton Manning or Vince Young would answer it the same way?
I would like this post for a sig, but Rockets first. If true, that about sums it up. I would suggest your brother at least email John McClain and see if he gets a confirmation from McLain on the state of the players.
Chester Pitts is from California... (???) Check out his wikipedia "profile." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chester_Pitts
From Wikipedia... In March of 1999 a group of Saturnian terrorists, known as the Interplanetary Space Pirates Guild (ISPG), staged an invasion of Jupiter's moons. By June, the ISPG had succeeded in capturing 34 of Jupiter's 63 moons, including Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. His Excellency was finally able to take leave of his familial and football duties on Earth in late June, and sent the following transmission to the ISPG headquarters on Saturn's moon, Titan: If you do not vacate my moons in 5 days or less, I'll kill you all. ps. don't leave any trash on my moons, or I'll be really angry. Signed, His Excellency, Chester Morise Pitts II, Honorable King of Jupiter and Her Moons When the ISPG did not heed Mr. Pitts' warning, the good king sent half his battle fleet to Titan, and the other half hid in the asteroid belt, waiting for further orders. Carrying only his battle axe, Pitts saddled up his space horse, put on a vacsuit, and rode alone from his flagship, The Cheeseburger, to the surface of Titan. There, he commanded the ISPG leader, Plasmabeard, to "come outside and fight me like a real man." Plasmabeard was confounded by this request since the Saturnian race reproduces asexually. ISPG then signaled the Benevolent King Pitts to translate his archaic Earth speak into the more modern Galactic Basic Language of Ebonics, to which Pitts replied, "Get yo' ass out here, p***y. We gonna fight." Plasmabeard, confident he could beat this inferior earthling, donned his own vacsuit and stepped aboard his warship, Cronus's Sickle. According to witnesses of the epic battle, to see the Sickle's solar sails unfurl was truly a sight to behold. All seven masts groaned against the push of the solar wind. The Good King Pitts was not afraid. His noble steed chased down the space sail ship, and Chester leapt aboard like a regular Sinbad. He detruncated all four of Plasmabeard's bodyguards before he issued the filthy pirate a punch so powerful that explorers tell of hearing ghostly transmissions from an angry Saturnian during expeditions to the Oort Cloud.
Between this post and the rockets war feelings post in the GARM, we might have seen the two funniest posts within a 12 hour period ever on this board. I haven't laughed like this in a long time!
I'd like to laugh at it too... What is it a reference to? I feel like I should know it...like from a song, but I can't think of it. Is it some weird, underground internet nerd reference or something?
uhm... henry's on pace to outrush every single texan back combined... RB is among the biggest wins for the titans... houston's defense has gotten better, yes - but through the 1st 4 weeks of the season, it was literally on pace to be the worst defensive unit in the history of the NFL in terms of yards allowed, so let's maintain perspective. since then, chad pennington and jp losman have each had their way with the defense - it's, at this point, mediocre at best. meanwhile, in its last 10 games, tennessee's defense has forced 20 turnovers - that's freaking 2 a game. for some perspective: in 13 games, the texans' D has forced 18 but 5 came in one game against the raiders. so 13 turnovers in 12 games while tennessee has been averaging 2 a game... which, i'm sure, is because the defensive players elevated their play once vy was named starter. when people "defend" carr, these are the kinds of things we're pointing to: the texans have exactly ZERO playmakers around him on both sides of the ball. now, i'm not by any means insinuating that if the texan D was forcing 2 TOs a game that carr would be throwing 3 TDs a game. but man, when your offense isn't very good, it sure as hell helps to occasionally shorten the field, and that has rarely happened for the texans this year. well, that's rather convenient - he only logged 30 carries in the titans first four games because he was hurt. setting aside, momentarily, 2004 and 2005, when he also battled injuries and only made 6 starts in those 2 years, he posted 1,430 and 1,350-yard seasons in '02 and '03... amazingly, without vince young. i don't how he was able to elevate his game back then, but.... henry, when healthy, is an upper-echelon back. and you should keep in mind that in two of VY's victories, henry totaled more yards than vy and in yet another, the defense/special teams scored as many points as the offense. there've been games where vince has been very good; there've been games where vince has been very bad - pretty much par for a rookie QB. fortunately for the titans, henry's been effective and the defense has been very opportunistic and shortened the field on several occasions for the offense on days when vy wasn't very good or in big comeback wins where time was of the essence (nyg). football is a team sport.
Good luck with all that. McClain has gone into full-scale damage control for the Texans (not that they don't need it...) and is running the triage unit for what's left of Bob McNair's relationship with the Houston football fans. I wouldn't expect an honest answer from him until the NFL draft.
Ric, you are unbelievable. You are like a machine that is just spewing statistical rhetoric all over this board. Whoever it was that said that you would still be pumping out "statistical evidence" of why Sam Bowie was the right choice in '84 if you were a Portland fan could not be more accurate. You are dangerously close to becoming a caricature of yourself.
Aw, cut Ric a little slack on this one. The (sad) truth is that both Ric & DaDakota are right with what they are saying and they are both entitled to their beliefs. You have to admire their passion for the Texans because both desperately want their hometown team to succeed. It's just too bad that the architects of this disaster - the previous regime - did not have both their insights into what it takes to win in this league. Things would have been so muuuuuch different around here.
It's crazy isn't it? If you point out that the Titans were winless before VY, Ric's response would be "man, that d is awesome and Travis Henry is a franchise back. Drew Bennett is a top ten wide receiver, and what's his name,......bobby wade, no Brandon Jones is underrated." Didn't Ric's site have some article stating they hope vince fails miserably? titans defense is getting better, but statistically, they're still towards the bottom.
