He's a terrible shooter so their interest checks out. The Rockets are trying to assemble an all time bad shooting team.

 

Depends on the prices. If they’re close to the same, then go with Kuzma

If it came down to Kuzma or Brooks with the same salary, im taking Kuzma 10 times out of 10.

 

Absolutely worst player available out there IMO .. yes I know he was better last season.. I did a bunch of prize picks and noticed him doing great a bunch BUT it was a contract year and I’m not buying into he turned a corner .. would rather FVV.. since we need a point guard/leader so bad (2 year deal I’m ok with)

This is what Ime was talking about. Nothing is given anymore. You just posted those forwards and said with a straight face that we don’t need any forwards. Jabari was terrible last year. Eason can’t finish and Garuba has shown nothing.

 

He has good measurables 6’9 in a half in shoes - 7 foot wingspan.
Would give Rocket wing defenders good length to match their lateral quickness:

Crazy how a player that has a championship and an all-star appearance is considered average in comp to the guy is more focused on how he looks in the walk up to the locker room.

We aren't picking players to come here in a vacuum. Is Kuzma an ideal fit? No, but I'd rather overpay Kuzma on a shorter contract than FVV. Kuzma plays a premium position and can do a bit everything..... just not well.

It doesn’t seem like it. I hope Ime is not too much of a throwback where he just looks at measurables and thinks everything else is accomplished with schemes.

 

It took me awhile... the dude in the picture wouldn't bang a "6." So, Rocket's fans who can do math are like that dude in the picture and should settle for 6's on the free agent market. Not me, not that thirsty for overpriced 6's. Rocket's aren't this dude either... they have one of the brightest futures, just not this next year.

The more this free agent market plays out, the more I would prefer trades for Vets on reasonably priced expiring contracts and do this all over again next year when Ime has had his chance to make the Rockets a more desirable destination.

 

Concisely it's a meme about beggers being choosers.

There is a minimum we have to spend and it's higher than seasons past with the new rules.

I don't view Kuzma as some major FA signing that really precludes us from making future moves. I too would prefer the Rockets to make some trades to consolidate some of the 9 rookie contracts we currently have and add some minor to mid FA signings. Not really a fan of Lopez, Brooks, and/or FVV this offseason.

Yeah, I understood the beggars can't be choosers metaphor. I also understand that the Rockets are having to beg Free Agents with large bags of money - which is why I think the Rockets pivot to either taking on contracts Like Tyus Jones or Monte Morris for a year or use our cap space to take on bad contracts + draft picks. Kuzma, if his contract is longer than 2 years could definitely negatively impact the Rocket's chances to contend in 2025
