just reported on Denver radio that Melo has spoken to George Karl and said he feels that he and Billups don't compliment each other well and wants Lawson to start. Maybe Melo is tired of all the useless pull up transition threes. Billups is overrated IMO
And Billups is the reason Melo got out of the 1st Round because he failed to do it until Billups got there.
WTF... Looks like Billups might get moved then and even if Melo is traded I can see Billups being dealt to a contender to help the rebuilding process.
Assuming he did say that, who knows what his motivations were? I wouldn't automatically hate on Billups, a proven winner. Maybe Anthony has a personal beef with Billups. Maybe Billups criticized his game or how he's handling the present situation and Anthony didn't like it. Maybe he's trying to do something to draw the ire of the front office and accelerate the trade process. Maybe he was being perfectly honest. Who knows?
Would be weird or maybe something happened to them this past season or in the off-season. I remember the year that Chauncey first got their there were a lot of reports of him having a positive effect on Melo and J.R. Smith in terms of them not partying as much and being more professional. Doesn't make sense to not really want to play in Denver but also try to pick who should be the starting pg. Maybe he is trying to create drama so Denver will trade if these reports are true.
This is getting good. Let the thug drama begin. Maybe someone should fly up to Denver and tip a valet person for access to Anthony's car and fill it with buttery popcorn.
If he wants out and has made this known...shouldn't he just keep his mouth shut at this point? After all, it's not like he'd be on the team anyway?
Probably. I wasn't trying to uncover the truth. My point was that we don't know the truth or motivations behind the comment, assuming he really even made it. I assume we'll know more soon. Maybe it turns out not to be true. Maybe Billups has something to add to it. Automatically knocking Billups based on not much info was what prompted my first post.
Billups + future first round pick for→ Brooks + Jeffries + Taylor + Harris + Johnson Denver reduces salary by $4,249,508 (or $8,499,016 incl. tax)
Billups is the most loved athlete in Denver/Colorado. I highly doubt they will get rid of him. He will retire a Nugg.
Never been a big Carmelo fan, and am liking him less and less. I do not question his athletic ability. That is a given. It's everything else.
I doubt this rumor is even true and how could you not want an elite player on the Rockets, there are so few of them
If you watched the playoffs last season, you know what Melo said is necessary. Billups is declining. His performance was terrible.
