Man if that happened.......I'd have to seriously think about whether I would watch another NBA game again.
I was just about to say something along these lines. If this goes down I will honestly not support anything NBA related that doesn't have to do with the Rockets.
People still watch the Yankees the most and they are even worse with buying players. Like with lebron and the heat, this will increase general interest among the public.
Bynum, odom and picks for carmello is what I've been told. The lakers might have to take harrignton also. This doesnt mean Nene is up for sale either. Bynum and nene could play together along the frontline without a problem.
That trade doesn't work because it's too fair. I think Bynum+Walton+Fisher for Melo and Nene is more the Lakers style. And then CP3 for a package of trail mix once Stern gets control of the Hornets.
I could see it happen, Idk if Melo would stay there though. Plus they have a 5.4 Trade Exception (from Vujabitch's trade) to absorb Birdman's contract.. [rquoter]Andrew Bynum Shannon Brown Devin Ebanks(rookie) Derrick Caracter(rookie) 2011 1st rd draft pick 2011 2nd rounder for Carmelo Anthony Chris Andersen(absorbed by Vujabitch's TE)[/rquoter] The package is as good as they can get imo... But yeah I would hate for the Lakers to get Melo, it would be unfair for the rest of the league...
How about Bynum for Carmelo and then Mark Gasol for Pau Gasol? No waite thats already what they are discussing. Next it will be Fisher for Deron Williams. So score now? Mark Bynum=Carmelo and Pau Gasol Rest of league.. Carmelo=3 first round draft picks, Favors, Devin Harris, Anthony Morrow Rockets probably=Scola, Battier, 1st rounder, Brooks, Hill That seems about right. Classic Laker=good trade role player for superstar. Rest of league= young guys, scorers, draft picks.
The lakers won 2 rings bc of size and defense and depth. Melo would intrigue, but losing Bynum and odom would be huge.
I think the lakers do this trade not only for present, more importantly, they do it for future. Kobe is declining. They need to find another star to build around for future.
Why? Lakers are doing nothing wrong and you can't blame them. If the Rockets had a superstar and were a contender they could do the same thing.
As a displaced Rockets fan living in LA, I'm exposed to a lot of lakers games and laker talk. They would idiotic to include Odom in any trade for Melo. Odom is a total glue guy and his length and skill set are what make them so dangerous with Kobe slipping as he gets older. Bynum for Melo i'd do in a heartbeat if i'm them. Also, this shows how the Lakers value Bynum for all those Brooks-for-Bynum'ers out there.
@WindhorstESPN The Nuggets are talking to wrong LA team. There's more attractive young assets down the hall. @WindhorstESPN When Melo furnished his list for Nugs last year, neither Clippers or Lakers were on it. Just NYK, Bulls & Rockets I'm told
Time I pull this trade idea back out. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6hq5lja Starting Lineup for Houston: Chauncey Billups Kevin Martin Shane Battier Luis Scola Nene Hilario with a bench of Kyle Lowry/Steve Blake/Ishmael Smith (would have to move one) Courtney Lee Chase Budinger/Terrance Williams Chuck Hayes/Patrick Patterson/Jordan Hill Brad Miller/Chris Andersen We would have to move or release somebody (probably Blake) but this is worth helping the Lakers be overpowered.
Who said anything about blaming the Lakers. And if the Rockets were in a position to do so and did the same thing I would feel the same way. I like the Rockets as much as the next guy in here, but first and foremost I am a fan of COMPETITIVE basketball. That is my first love. I miss the days when the NBA top players were on several teams and exciting match up were the norm. I want to see the top players (the Lebrons, Wades, Melos, Howards, Kobes, etc.) compete AGAINST each other to see who is better, not team up and beat up on the Daniel Gibsons and Anthony Parkers or the world. That doesn't seem like anything I would be interested in watching. Where is the suspense? Where is the drama? If those two elements are part of the game, then I don't really see any point on watching. But hey if you want to spend your hard earned money to see an All-Star team beat up on the NBA equivalent of a YMCA team then be my guest. But I expect more excitement for my money.
