I hope I'm wrong because I'm ready for the circus to be over with and I would love for the NYKs to go with what they have, but I will be shocked if Melo signs an extention with the Nets. Shocked. He will spend the rest of his contract playing for a lottery team. They are the Clippers of the East. Lala must be offering some serious perks.

Maybe this happens but I still think Denver is sending false statements to get NY to up their ante which they don't appear eager to do. Donnie has his poker face on and I think he's willing to call the bluff. Lets see if the Nuggets were truely able to get the flush on the river.

actually....like you said, devin played only part of the year, meaning they had duds at pg and were without their second best player...favors is irrelevant, as they didnt have him at all last year...they lose harris, but gain a better player in Melo and the farmar/morrow backcourt makes up for devin's loss for the most part. They also add Murphy at the 4.

so you're ok with Billups and not Hamilton? Billups isnt far from hitting a steep decline and hamilton looked bad last year because of an injury. They're at about the same point in their careers, not much of a different really.

NY can't really up their ante well besides finding a 3rd team to offer a #1 pick and/or other picks to Denver.

no, he's saying any team taking back melo can't give up too much, becaue melo alone won't be like lebron and a bunch of scrubs. Melo needs some help, so the nets, in this case, have to try and keep or acquire as much talent as possible.

Billups isn't didn't have a serious injury last season.

Also, he brings other things to the floor as well, such as leadership.

    Ahh ok.

I think this second part is a given. Kobe couldn't do anything by himself and the same goes for Lebron.

The player that has won a title with the least amount of help is Wade.

You gotta be wondering what Deron Williams is thinking right now.

Losing AK47 and have him replaced by either a washed up Bell or Gordon Freakin Hayward.

I bet he's pissed off right about now.

Don't be suprised if he asks out after his team doesn't make the playoffs.

Sure they're going to be better, but IMO they'll still be a losing team or at most .500. They were what? 18 win team last season? Almost breaking NBA history for worst record? This year, they'll be a 35 win team, or 41-41 team at best. Good for them...

    Not remotely.

What makes the Clippers "the Clippers" is their cheap, scuzzy owner (Donald Sterling).

The Nets now have the complete opposite: a young, charismatic billionaire owner who is willing to spend whatever it takes to win (Mikhael Prokhorov).

I didnt say he had one. And that doesnt mean he's not up there in age either....leadership is nice, but it's not like he's derek "5 rings" fisher. He has one ring and i dont think that's enough experience to make up for his age, his salary, and losing Brooks.

I think he meant the fact that they are gonna be irrelevant for the unforseeable future.

You do realize he went to like 7 straight conference finals? 2 NBA finals? Fisher..really???

I can accept the getting old argument but experience he has PLENTY of.

I think they could by offering Randolf (either in the trade or they could trade him for a #1 & #2 to Mavs - sorry Novak fans) but I think it's an offer of Gallo and Curry and maybe a 2014. It's no where near the rumored 4 team deal but the word that Denver (whos making out like a bandit) is dragging their feet on the deal to me tells me there really is no deal (of Melo wanting to sign). NYKs =1. Bulls=1b. Else=pass. I think it's always been like that.

If he in fact signs with the Nets then his goal is nothing more than cash and location. And that is exactly what he will get - and nothing more. Because if he waits 1 more year and just signs with NY, I think Paul would follow. Then he'd stand a much better chance of getting a ring as a Knick than he would on the Nets.

It's not just Denver, but I think Utah is second guessing the deal as well.

Utah gets raped in this deal from a basketball standpoint. They lose their best perimeter defender for practically nothing.

That probably wouldn't bode well for Deron Williams.

@WojYahooNBA Denver still hasn't signed off on deal and haven't shown other teams rush to do so. "They won't get a better deal," one involved exec says.

Boris Diaw, who played nearly 3000 minutes last season for the #1 defensive team in the league last year, is "practically nothing," particularly when it comes to defending people.

Yea they have a new owner and I agree that he's way more willing to spend than cheap Donald but they are so far down in the hole that it will take years to get out. More years than Melo will be in the league. Would Perrinnial Losers of the East be a better title?
