All true but I think 'Melo wants it all and want's it all right now. NOW NOW NOW!

-Wants to go to NY now
-Wants his money under this CBA now
-Wants his buddy Paul to join him now or ASAP

Just wondering why everyone says CP3 will join Melo at Nets? Aren't the rumors is all about CP3 and Melo joining forces with Amare at knicks forming a big 3?

Just got a hunch that since its been almost a day since the trade talks have been out, this trade will not goes through.

Sadly, he will probably get his way.

Hornets are gonna go through the same thing this season as well.

Don't be suprised to see CP3 and Melo on the same team by Feb.

I wonder this. If either due to chemistry issues or injury, the Heat fail to be a wonder team, will all this Melo CP3 hype go away?

No they won't and that's why I still don't think this deal goes down. Denver is feeding other teams a line that they can get Melo to sign with them under the hopes that they can talk him into if a good trade came along - or getting the real teams to up their ante. A good trade has come along, but I suspect they are having a hard time talking him into it - and therefore the trade will fall apart IMO. If this deal does fall apart, you can guarantee the Nets will be out of the Melo sweepstakes because they won't be yanked around again.

NYKs=1. Bulls=1a. I do not believe he would sign an extention with anyone else. I think the Knicks know that (by my previous post) and I think they know Chicago is not willing to give Denver what they want so they are willing to wait it out.

More and more, I get the sense that Melo wouldn't actually sign w Chicago, either.

he should've had a player option for this summer put into his contract like everyone else from his draft class did.

Why? He's going to make ~$3M more this season than either Lebron, Bosh or Wade. Also, by being THE prize of his free agent class and leveraging that into a max extension, he will make a LOT more than those guys over the next four seasons.

I think he's coming out JUST FINE in this process.

You know I was starting to doubt that too but I do think that might be Lala's compromise and does give him a chance to challenge the Heat.

If you believe ESPN, then NJ is currently $1.9M under the cap . If they end up acquiring Anthony in the reported 4 way trade then they are about $3M over the cap.

They do have quite a few expiring contracts so they could let those players go to create cap space next season. The problem is that those expiring contracts include Murphy, Lopez, Williams and Augustine. They can create cap space or they can use those guys in trades but they can't do both.

Looks like they could get to around $15M under the cap and still keep Lopez. So then what are they going to trade in exchange for Chris Paul? NO doesn't want to trade him at all but if it ever comes to that it certainly won't be a straight salary dump. NJ would have to be able to send something to NO.

NJ is apparently willing to offer Favors, Harris and the Golden State 1st round pick for Anthony. If that's the pricetag for Anthony then you think that Paul can be had for a straight salary dump?

if he was a free agent this summer he would've signed with the knicks for the max. wouldn't he've been in the same financial shape as signing for the max next summer?

Do the Knicks have the cap space to sign both Amare and Melo to the Max during this current CBA?

Remember the salaries on both sides of the deal only have to be within 25% + $100K. So if Denver is sending out $17.1M (Anthony) then they can take back up to $21.475M in salary. That's really close to the $22M number that you show for their in-coming. The salaries shows by ESPN and other sites are rounded off so the deal may already work as is. Worst case Denver just needs to throw in an additional $500K contract to make it work as shown in your numbers.

this summer they had 2 max contracts. one went to amare. the other was split on felton and lee. lee was traded for randolph, turiaf, and azubuike. turiaf and azubuike come off the books next summer, along with curry to create another max contract.

It appears Houston was never really in the picture for Carmelo, I would have loved to see him on the Rockets, its too bad. I hope Yao comes back healthy so other good players view the Rockets as a viable option for winning the title.

The title is up for grabs for the Lakers and Heat, will make some good title games, too bad for the rest of the league, cause in all honesty there is no point in watching games if you arn't a fan of either of those two teams.

Turiaf has a player's option, and I think he would activate it. Now maybe they can have a max contract even if he does, but I don't know.
