CP3 will demand a trade there.

So they won't have to come up with many assets.

first of all, they have pure salary capspace. that alone is worth way more than any expiring contract.

secondly, they have terrence williams, murphy, augustin, farmar. basically anyone outside of carmelo and lopez.

the rest of the players can be sorted out easily. just see heat, miami

And Paul's leverage is? Anthony had the one card in that he could refuse to sign an extension for a team he didn't want to go to, thus lowering trade values from teams he didn't want to go to. The fact is, Denver if they wanted to could have packed his ass to Minnesota if they wanted, but they wanted value back, so they didn't.
Paul has no such thing until possibly next year.

Maybe it's wishful thinking. I don't know, But if it did happen, I'd just quit basketball until a lockout appears and the players get shoved in their proper place.

maybe so......but with all this "preplanning" that is going on these days amongst the NBA elite players, dont be surprised if the new CBA does something to seriously c0ck-block that type of thing....or at least make it very undesirable to do so

No I did not include Augustine, Hayes or Ross. I guess I missed those names because the only names I saw were Melo, Harris, AK, Favors and Diaw. If those names are included then this is what I see.

Denver gives up: Melo 17+ mill
Denver receives: AK47, Favors 22 mil

NJ gives up: Harris, Favors, Ross, Hayes 17.1 mil (Hayes 3mil s&t?)
NJ receives: Melo, Augustine 19.5 mil

Utah gives up: AK47 17.8 mil
Utah receives: Diaw, Ross 10 mil

Charlotte gives up: Augustine, Diaw 11.5 mil
Charlotte receives: Harris, Hayes 12 mil

Am I missing someone? It looks like Denver still needs to unload about 2 million

Filler will be added if this is the trade. About a half a million.

Oh no, Paul has to wait a whole year? Lebron, Bosh, and Wade waited 2 years from the Olympics. Anthony waited a whole year to get his leverage today.

Paul would be on the fast track compared to Miami 3.

    Speaking of Paul...

KBerg_CBS Exec: One sticking point could be efforts by Melo and his reps to determine whether Chris Paul would join him in Brooklyn in 2012.

Teams will take something over nothing. Cleveland held out on trading Lebron until the last moment, now they get to have a 2017 late 1st round draft pick to rebuild. They get to wait 7 more years.

Next season, the Hornets can decide to keep CP3 for the last year of his contract and hope for late 1st round pick in 7 years, or trade him with an extension for late draft picks in the next season.

One exec who tried and failed to enter Melo sweepstakes is "not sure Melo is sold on Jersey." Melo "worried about going there by himself." about 30 minutes ago

Melo wants Paul, Melo unsure if he'll get Paul, Melo still not sold on Jersey, I'll say this 4 team deal falls apart.

melo is throwing the timing off by demanding a trade this year.

if he waited to leave as a free agent next year he could sign with the knicks and only have to wait 1 year to play with paul. or if paul said he would leave after his last year they might trade him to the knicks next summer.

no reason for melo to demand a trade right now. plus, if the knicks had to trade for him they would have less talent than if they could just sign him next summer. if i were melo, i would rather the knicks have more talent when i join them next year, than less talent because they had to trade for me this year.

exactly...melo holds all the cards right now imo...I really dont think Denver wants a circus atmosphere in their locker room every time some scribe hears a rumor...they want this over and done with
