I never said he is terrible and recognize he is a special talent--I am just not on his jock like so many are. And this just in: Carmello had a good game and his team won--who is the one not recognizing a player? OK on to less bantering. Peja, Dirk, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce (not in the athletic class of T-Mac/Kobe at least) And pagbriel- you never hit the Glen Rice comparison. You don't think Melo can be a late 20s Glen Rice or current Paul Pierce with better passing skills? That would make one hell of a player.
Carmello will never be able to shoot like Glenn Rice. That's no knock on him, but Glenn Rice is probably one of the five best shooters in NBA history. And even if he did, was Glenn Rice ever a franchise player even in his best years? The reason I responded to your last post like that, is because you made it seem like Lebron didn't make his team better, but I may have gotten the wrong impression. I honestly never saw Cleveland play that well last year, even though I only watched a few of their games. I respect Carmello's game, I think he will be an all-star type player, but this thread started with someone saying he will be better than Lebron, which I just can't see.
If yesterday was any indication, Anthony has no prayer in hell of becoming the shooter that Rice was. I don't think Anthony will ever be the offensive scorer that Rice was. Rice, in his prime, was a hell of a post-up player as well. Melo has some nice game, but his jumpshot sucks ass. He's bailing out the defense everytime he shoots a jumpshot.
Don't comment on a player if you haven't been watching him for several years... Yeah his jumpshot sucks ass...
After seeing both there is no question James is a step above athletically. Still, whether James will be the better half court player down the line I don't know. IMO Melo has shown the better half court instincts. They are both pups though, will be fun to watch. BTW I wouldn't be too concerned about Melo's shooting, he will adjust.
I've seen him for the last 3 years. You are making a wrong assumption if you think I'm basing it just on yesterday. At Cuse, I thought his jumper was average. Avg shooters in the NCAA become below avg in the NBA, when you take into consideration tougher defense and a further 3 pt line.
One interesting thing about last night was that Jim Jackson wiped that smile right off his face. I've never seen Melo so serious on the court before. He even got offensive with that elbow a few times. Welcome to the NBA Carmelo. You are a rookie.
Fair enough. I just get sick of all the Yao bandwagon people judging players who they've never seen. I still disagree. Carmelo's shot is far from sucking and will improve.
I'll admit I wasn't really wanting us to draft Yao when all I had seen was that workout, but once I saw the clips of him from the Olympics, I was sold.
Melo had a badass game last night against Sacramento. Due to a friend, I ended up getting seats in a luxury box for the game, and he was unreal. He finally had his first game where he wasn't driving by a defender and immediately being met by one of the top 10 players in the league (Duncan in game 1, Yao in game 2) and it showed. Melo 4 Life baby.
My God, if you look at the last few years, you have Melo, LeBron and Yao, three players that could carry the NBA for the next decade. How can you not be excited about this if you're an NBA fan? For crying out loud, this is Magic, Bird, Jordan again. I love this game. Copyright NBA 2003. All rights restricted for use only for the NBA and it's franchises. If you're actually reading this, good for you. There should be more here, but I forgot half of the stuff from my journalism law class already. Oh well. Go Nugs!
I really like Anthony. Still do. Before the season started, I thought he was ROY. But now that I've actually seen LeBron play... ...I'll have to change my mind. That's not a knock on Anthony at all, but from what I've seen of James, I couldn't actually believe that the hype was well deserved.
