All good points. However, the thing that will set the Rockets apart from GSW is the Rockets will have multiple good to elite isolation players. Aside from switching Defense, it's the Rockets only chance to compete.

Forcing a Melo/Curry match up will wear on Curry even more. The physicality alone will help with slowing him down.

Hmm, we could run some post action for Melo actually, not actually posting up but similar to how GS runs their action out of the post. Carmelo is actually a really decent passer when he wants to be. We ran that a couple times this year with CP3 out of the post and it worked pretty well, though I dont have the numbers for it.

 

Honestly, I'm excited.

I do not love Melo by any means, in fact many times I have flat out despised him. If I look at it objectively though.... he is an All-Star (declining? Maybe, sure), can score, adds midrange, and can rebound. Around great players and sharers he can thrive, but he has not been around that much besides USA Bball.

Ariza was a good defender (perhaps a pinch overrated, but had length, moved and read the offense well, but he was pretty inconsistent in every other area. As much as I liked him as a glue guy, the truth is not only was he replaceable, but many times on offense as a starter he was a liability. He made poor decisions driving the ball, and I think it's unfortunate, but okay, that he is gone.

Luc? I loved pre-injury Luc. After? Well, it was too soon to know, but my goodness he was tentative as fck, could not hit a shot, a layup, and even lost defensive step. Unless we knew he was going to comeback awesome, all we did was lose someone who was completely unproductive in the playoffs.

Anderson? Is he staying or going? I dont know, but he barely played, he barely scored, he passed up on shots and did not offer much else.

All things considered, I do think that we have upgraded from playoff-production Rockets. It's not perfect, but in my mind, again all things considered, I see this as a win, and I think that Anthony can be much more productive in an environment with assist heavy guards.
