If I'm reading correctly, I'm sure that was to prevent the fans from overbloating the fan demand so we can get what we want on our terms.

Based on all the reporters, Melo to Pee-town wasn't an initial demand. It couldn't have been or else we wouldn't have wasted our time on it, seeing as to how our goal was to land 'Melo. So Portland either changed their minds or they pulled a bait-and-switch. If the latter, that's way worse than us giving false information to the general public which is reasonable as Portland used our past honesty against us. Giving smokescreens is done in almost all negotiating arenas, but BnS is looked down upon in every arena.

You'd think Melo would be honest w/ CP3 and Lebron about where he'd go in the event of a buyout, right? I feel like I would if I was in his situation. Anyway, it doesn't even seem like Lebron really cares. Seems like he's just checked out and is biding his time.

I agree but of course he prefers the Rockets in trade cause there has not been any word of Cavs trying to trade for him.

If he's bought out he can just walk on to the cavs and not worry about the warriors till the finals.

These leaks to Woj are for fans. That's what leaks do. They rule up fans to voice didsplease and sometimes just to avoid being realistic.

That's what this whole pause BS from NY is about. NY knows Melo isn't going to change his mind but why not make Melo the bad guy to Knick fans?

I'm saying if the pulled a BnS, it's pretty unprofessional. My rationale is that we wouldn't engage with any teams if their intention was to bring Melo to them rather than us given our goal was to get Melo.

I don't see it. This is the first time the Blazers have even been mentioned connected to Melo by a reputable source. The only other source referencing the Blazer was by Mr Potato head.

If Portland made their desire for Melo at the onset, then why would we continue to engage them? We'd tell'em to suck it and find another team since we're the ones that wanted Melo. So either they changed their minds recently (which isn't deplorable) to wanting Melo or they knew they wanted Melo from the start and just waited until we put in a lot of effort to then switch up their demands.
