only senario i take carmelo is without tmac/yao. Battier/alston or battier/bjax? Maybe they will bite. Team defense drop by 8, team offense goes up by 15. i take that everyday.
R. Lewis has been pretty good for Atlanta first of all. Second, you wouldn't take TMAC, Yao, and Melo on the same team?
My point is .... I dont think you can get all 3 of them on the same team. Even if you could, I wont want to use $15-17mil on Melo along with Yao by the time Tmac's time is up here anyway.
I wouldn't take them on the same team, unless the game was played with three or four basketballs going simultaneously.
Where do I sign up? What do you mean Carmelo won't fit in. He would be a perfect 3 rd scoring option. We could have sure used him during the playoffs. He can off load the scoring on Yao and/or Tracy if they are hurt or having a bad game. Plus, each of the big three require a double team.
There is just no way for us to get Anthony. They wouldn't trade him for T-Mac, we wouldn't trade Yao for him. And really it's hard to believe that they would really trade him, maybe they just said they would listen to trade offers to wake him up.
Problem is, if we get carmelo, it will take at least 2 seasons before we could actually knock this guys head back to team basketball. George Karl has corrupted and destroyed all these nugget players mind, if Carmelo DOES somehow get to houston without the need to trade Yao or McGrady, we'll gonna see if carmelo is willing to learn, change, and play team ball. If it doesn't work out, we could end up like the Lakers trading away shaq. If he is willing to work, we are looking at 2 seasons before he plays nba basketball instead of college basketball. If he has a lot of passion, listens and works extra hard, it will take one regular season.
I would take Carmelo if we didn't have to give up Yao and TMac. We really need a big-time scorer in general, but also, if you want to reduce Tmac and Yao's minutes next year significantly, to cut down on possible injuries and what not, preserve their longevity, we will need a young guy to do the horse's share of minutes, and Anthony could be that guy. Needs a good coach to whip him into shape. Good teammates (I mean, Denver is a Jailblazers Lite)... But I don't know if Denver would entertain a group of decent players vs. getting a star or fledgling superstar in return. If we could get him without giving up Yao, Mac, Scola, I'd say do it...
somebody already said it, but we have nothing outside of TMac/Yao that either interest the Nuggets, or large enough to match Melo's 13 mill this year and rises each year to 18 mill on 2012. Any combination to match that 13 mill will gut the team to scrubs outside Melo/Yao/Tmac. Sure we can be like Boston and be way over the cap, but Les is trying to go the opposite direction.
We should just stop dreaming. Without giving up Yao or T-Mac, other teams can make better offers for Melo. I don't think the Rockets front office wants 3 MAX contract players.
I would like to say WE CAN NOT GET CARMELO ANTHONY... but if we could by trading any combination of our players not named Tmac/Yao, it would be a huge steal. Just like the celts, we would be a much better team automatically and we could fill in the cracks later. Its not like we're a loaded team anyways.
