not only that, but it caused Landry to throw the ball in the backcourt, which resulted in a turnover...
OK. We may never really know but here's my reaction from last night and what I had written quite a bit earlier to be posted in the "after game analysis" thread... and I didn't record the game. But even the couple of times they replayed it on TNT last night I still had the same sentiment as the OP. >It was fitting that Landry, essentially, saved the win by blocking Williams last shot and then saving it to a teammate from out of bounds. I'm convinced that Boozer was deliberately swinging his arm to hurt Landry. Every replay I saw looked this way to me. He may not have know which Rockets player it was to his right, but I'm convinced he could see a red jersey with his peripheral vision and swung that right arm hoping it would catch whomever it was in the chops. So great that Landry could come back into the game after what I think should have been a flagrant-2 foul, and totally negate the arrogant statement by Boozer that "we're not coming back to Houston".< To expand on this a little further... If we thought the Jazz have played physical (and borderline dirty), so far, hold on to your hats for game 4. The plan will be to play so physical and borderline as to get the Rockets to react, get them flustered and out of their game and maybe even get someone tossed... say a Rafer Alston, maybe? After all, Rafer's not one to back down if provoked. In other words, he's a pretty easy target. But the level of play will be geared to this end. I can respect Utah's players BB skills, but not their attitude, not their "style" of play... and given that it starts from the top -- not the coach.
If that is their plan, then Adelman needs to play a highlight reel of Landry's performance last night to show the perfect way to counter those underhanded tactics...hurt them where it hurts the most, the box score.
Basically if Landry had flopped into the 2nd row like AK would have done, Boozer would have received a Flagrant 1 for this play. So it's because Landry doesn't play like a flopping p***y that the ref watching under the basket could not ascertain that a foul had indeed taken place. Landry needs to stop chasing after loose balls and start kissing the floor if he wants to gain any respect in Stern's league.
I think....... unintentional Boozer's arms were over his head for the rebound. His arms naturally have to come down, but soon as the ball slipped away he did a reactionary "swim" type move toward the ball. He might sensed Landry was there but dont think he totally "knew" Landry was behind him. Dont want to say Landry ran into his elbow and take it all away from Boozer, but on contact his body kinda "pushed" Boozers arm up a little, making the trajectory appear the arm was going upward towards his face. Boozers arm was still a liiiiiiittle to sideways for my tastes but I can see Chuck Hayes reacting to a loose ball the same way. Ironically I can also see the person in Boozer's spot getting hurt with a dislocated shoulder. Like a QB injuring his arm while getting tackled during a throw
You know difference between plays: Gino and Jaric fell down and Landry manned up and kept after ball. If Landry falls over, I GUARENTEE Boozer gets at least a flagrant 1.
Want to think about something funny? What would Cry-ilenko have done if he were hit in the face and had a tooth knocked out and a nose broken? What is the over/under on the amount of time he would have spent laying on the floor? I'm going with 3 minutes.
