Yea the gap is def closing, in somse of the exhibition games the Euro teams are starting to beat the NBA teams, yes its exhibition, but its never happen before so some change is coming along. The thing about europe and you can hear childress talk about this, they don't protect their stars and have a weak foul calling system, they play straight..its come tot a point where euro ball is more physical and strategic and requires more skill than NBAball which just needs athleticism to get by. We have arguably the top 2 best player in hte league(lebron) who can't shoot consistently and he is a perimter player and the leading league scorer just bc he is athletic and you have to play him a certain way or hell get calls, the NBA seems to inflates its stats for its scores...itst a disturbing brand of bball that makes it harder and slower to watch with all the petty stops. It has changed since the 90s but perhaps bc this new generation(lebron) stars aren't skilled in the fundamentals(shooting) he is damn good, but that is a cornerstone in bball and he is a perimter playeer, its sad to see the league adjust its rules to him, rather than as they did with kobe and mj, make them develop jump shots to open their game
I also think that now Euro players know that they dont have to rush over to get in the NBA, they can have a bit of a career over there, then head to the U.S, and that means their Leagues are keeping top class players for much longer than they used to. Also, there are a lot more top class players around the world now than there was even 10 years ago. I think it wont be long before European teams are a very real option for the games elite stars. They will want to cherry pick the best players before to long, but at the same time I think when that happens the NBA will get a European division into the NBA and it wont be an issue of losing talent.
The funny part is to look at the two posts above mine and following yours...lol, have you guys been asleep for the last few months? plunging euro, oil bust, etc? Hello? Anybody there?
Here's another article (in spanish) on Russian teams going broke and players not getting paid - this is apparently legit. http://ecodiario.eleconomista.es/ba...ruso-en-crisis-por-la-caida-del-petroleo.html LOL, too bad rockets dynasty and his alter egos is banned - this would be amusing.
That happens a lot over there in many sports and its something that players get warned about. Thing is, when they are being offered money, they'll go for it even if they know the ricks. As Ive said before, European owners will spend ridiculous amounts of money they can not afford. Sometimes they make it work out, other times they dont. Where as in the U.S. or Australia a club needs to show its financially stable, they just do things differently over there. Hell, look at the soccer clubs, they bleed red ink and yet somehow they keep spending hundreds of millions of dollars every year.
Uh, I could take it to another board where he is known to exist. All kidding aside, does this free up some of these players? If they are not being paid doesn't that void their contract? The Rockets could take a shot on some of these players..... DD
......and I bet they will respond to those e-mails from the nephew of the Nigerian Oil Minister too. Sure, it's ricksy, but untold riches await.
I am getting that crap in my Skype messaging now....I just block them and move on....annoying though. DD
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6575780.html MILWAUKEE — A person with direct knowledge of the deal says the Toronto Raptors have agreed to send forward Carlos Delfino to Milwaukee in exchange for Amir Johnson as part of a four-player trade. The deal would also send guard Roko Ukic to Milwaukee in exchange for Bucks guard Sonny Weems. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been completed. The deal was first reported by ESPN.com. Delfino, a native of Argentina, played his first three season in Detroit before being traded to Toronto before the 2007-08 season. Delfino played overseas last season.
i like delfino, he's a ginobili lite, given PT, he could produce. amir johnson on the other hand really hasn't done anything since he's been in the league, he's all hype in my opinion, but who knows, he might turn out to be a good player given his size and athletism.
In his dreams Delfino could be Ginobili-lite. By all appearances he could be a very good NBA player, but the problem is he just doesn't produce when on the floor. Comparing him to Manu is a joke. He's more comparable to a nobody like Amir Johnson.
Give him some credit. 5ppg in the NBA is quite an achievement. Where will the NBA be without those points?
exactly. how could this trade have been consummated without C-Delf? then we could never see amir johnson on the raptors...........what a horrible thought that is.....
